I just bought a used Plymouth Grand Voyager & have started thinking about my next camping trip... since the back seat folds down flat, it'd be nice sleeping in the van... I'd like some ideas of how to sorta turn it into a camper, but since it's the vehicle I drive every day, I don't want to go overboard... anybody got any suggestions?..

think about an inflatable bed/mattress for comfort...
also you might be able to have some easy to remove curtain rods to hang privacy curtains or use sticky backsided velco tape to inside of van and the other piece to your fabric/curtains to put up & take down with ease.
A seweet comforter and a few lovely deco pillows will make you feel snuggley in your van.
Also, use those plastic lided storage containers for storing food, clothing & supplies. you can store them on the front seat while camping.
But most of all, the best advice...just have fun!

Thanks, y'all, for the good suggestions... I had thought of the curtains, but was trying to figure out how to hang them... the stick-on velcro is a great idea... & the woodsy bedding sounds like fun... okay, gotta go shopping!..

| Are there mosquitos where you are? If you plan to camp in the summer I imagine it can get pretty hot and you would need to roll down the windows and if there are mosquitos they would invade. I have seen screens for vehicles on line or you can make your own--basically you cut a patter a little bigger than your window, cut the screen and you glue on magnetic strips around the edge and then attach it to the outside of the car(that way you can still roll the windows up or down as needed. also instead of a air mattress I would make my own with foam. My dad has made a great bed in the back of his van with foam (he takes it out when the van is used for the whole family, but he has went on many cross country trips by himself to help my brother and I move-I was living in NYC for 10 years, and bro is in the military, so he always comes and helps us, he brings the big family van, I have said many times I am one of 18 children, so it's a BIG van, it's the size that will carry the whole family, any way he has rigged a bed in the back for when he does this kind of thing for my bro and me. It's foam, and those eggcrate things, etc, all put together till he liked it just right!). What I like about that versus the blow up, is you have to figure out how to air up the bed, and if you forget the thing that does that you are in a mess! My husband and I found that out the hard way! lol haha After our little lesson in forgetting the attachment, I said we are going to foam! lol haha And I like it better, plus you can get it cut to just the right size you want, etc.

That too, plus my husband and I found out the hard way if it gets hot during the day and you don't deflate it a little at least, you will get a round air mattress that the sheets won't stay on, versus the rectangle you started with! lol The heat will make it expand and will really distort it! lol haha

I love all your ideas!.. thanks so much... yes, those air mattresses can be very cold... I spent two nights on one at 10,000 ft. in Colorado last August & even with two blankets & a sleeping bag under me, I got pretty chilled on the underside... great idea about making screens too... I'll definitely look into that...
