I am new to the farmgirl group and maybe this isn't the place;
My best girlfriends' son (the closest thing I have to a boy) is leaving Alaska for Afganistan on 4/10/11 for a year. He will be the go-between for the people in Kabul & the US govt. He is in the Army.
Well, his birthday is 4/6/11 and I would love to surprise him with a few birthday cards or well wishes before he goes. If anyone wants to send a card:
Trey Goodwin
824 Marquette Loop
North Pole, AK 99705

It takes awhile for mail to get that far north in Alaska so cards would have to be sent NOW. His wife, Suzy will be moving back with her parents in N.C. while he is gone. Please say a little prayer.
Thanks so much, Joey

Joey, remember this is a public forum. You'll see a lot of time when folks make these types of request they have the farmgirls email them so they can send out the address in a private email. Just a caution. You can edit your own post by the way, but the way the internet is used these days, it never hurts to be cautious.

My dad is up in Alaska, beautiful area. This is a sweet idea.

Thanks Laurie, I didn't even think of that. Fortunately that address will only be valid for another week or so and they'll be gone. I have loved sending mail to the North Pole and last year they sent a Santa note to my grandkids from the North Pole-my 9yo grand-daughter checked the post mark! Thank you all so much. Joey

I just wanted to thank all of you who sent Trey a card before he left for Afghanistan. He has deployed. He called his mother before he left saying "I got all these cards from people I don't even know. What's up with that! She had fun telling him and he called me to say "thanks" so I'm passing it on.
He is going to a very dangerous job that he is well trained for and he is a smart guy. He is very good at what he does. He is a Christian and we know he is in Gods' care. I'm still asking for prayers for his safety. We prayed him through Iraq twice and we will do it again now.
Just an aside: Iknow it is so anti-MJF values but we love Disney and are Disney pintraders. Both my DH & I worked at Disney for a few years. I have a pin with Mickey Mouse shaking the hand of an Army man. I wore it every day Trey was in Iraq and I will wear it every day while he is in Afghanistan. It just reminds me to say a prayer every time I put it on and every time I take it off.
Anyway, thanks again for all your cards. He enjoyed them and I am grateful. Hugs, Joey
