Well, for those of you who have been following my continuing saga of the adoption of our 9 year-old daughter, you've got a happy ending! 
Our adoption worker called this morning to say that she called the county clerk's office as soon as they opened, and the paperwork to adopt our daughter has been officially filed. She's ours! No more visitation or foster homes...she never has to sleep anywhere but her own bed in her own room at our house again! And six months from now we'll go to court to make it permanent, and our names will be put on her birth certificate.
I can't stop smiling!

Yep, she's here! Our adoption worker that came by on Thursday made a little ceremony...we had a few more papers to fill out, and she had one made for Shianne (not really official, but it looks like it is) where she "formally" requests that the court make us her "forever mom and dad." It was really a sweet moment; the worker called her in to the dining room where we were sitting and gave her the form, telling her it was the last form we had to fill out before she moved in with us forever. You should've seen the smile on Shianne's face. She used her best penmanship and wrote her first and last name on the line. The worker had her sign two forms (everything has to be done in duplicates, you know!) and one went into her file and the other she gave to us as a keepsake.
Then last night, after we got the phone call that the papers had all been filed with the court, we went out to the movies ("Gnomeo and Juliet") and out to dinner.

Wow I am so happy that it did not take very long.!!! That last post sounded like they were going to goof around putting her in a different foster home and such.!!! I am so happy for you!!! Is there anything you need for her? Let us know her sizes and such and what she likes...
Oh I am so excited too. now you can get all the dentist stuff done too. how cool!!!! Did you ever find out how come her brother and sister aren't up for adoption? Oh I am so excited....your michigan farm girl friend....bev

| I'm so happy for you and your family! I just finished reading all your update's with tear's in my eyes. I was so hoping for a wonderful outcome for you. I shared your story with my sister-in-law who is in the process of adopting her two foster daughter's there's should be final next month. I cant wait to call her and tell her you now have your daughter in your home safe and sound forever. Congatulation's!!!! |
