Hey everyone,
Today the DH and I went out and cleared the dead stuff out of all the beds. I was so suprised at how good of a weed job he did. Considering last year he refused to touch the dirt and sat and read a book the entire time I had to dig the new beds. My how far we have come in one year.

After one of the beds was cleared, my DD and I planted the peas in their new location.

I have been working now on a crop rotation, thanks to all the lovely farmgirls here... I learned what a rotation was!

It was a delightful day to get all of this done.

It sure was! After attending the annual St. Patrick's day luncheon for my husband's side of the family, I went home, put the baby down for her nap, put on my hunter wellies and went out into the yard. I cleared all the leaves from the flower beds, and moved some perrenials around like the sedum that's taking over the world in the middle of the farm irises!

Since we're not planting a full veggie garden this year, just peas now, herbs and tomatoes later, I can work on the flower beds that have long needed my attention. Make a few more and move some MORE things around when it gets a little more dry. We're expecting thunderstorms today, so that puts a damper on my gardening for sure!

You inspired me, Emily!!! Today I went out and did the same... I cleared everything (found some mondo carrots in the ground from last year, and have onions and garlic popping up already!), hand-tilled the soil, planted some carrot seeds and more garlic and WOW - it's looks all ready to plant for the summer (but way too early!). It felt so good to get out there in the soil! And the air is so sweet - like spring! I did a really stupid thing, though. I took off my gloves while shoveling and tore a little bit of my palm away (like a deep blister that ripped) - ouch! But you know what? I don't even CARE! LOL! It was SO worth getting! Tomorrow I'm thinking about planting some strawberries and spinach - and maybe set those peas out, too... I don't want to do it too soon, but it is so nice out, and it would be so nice to get a little more done! Don't you just love this time of year?! Thank you so much for the inspiration - it made my whole day! :) Hugs - Nini

God gave us two hands... one to help ourselves, and one to help others!
