This is just a quick small thing I do everyday no matter what the weather is.... While I make the beds every morning, (I have two small toddlers that cannot make their own yet), I open all the windows in the house for about 15mins. and let the house refreshen. Sometimes in the afternoon too. I turn off the furnace first of course, so I don't heat the great outdoors! It really makes a difference!

I love to do that. It gets awfully cold here in Northern Illinois though, so sometimes I have to hold off on it!

As an elementary teacher with exterior windows in my first class, we kept a window cracked all winter. It was a bit cool, but the kids acclimated to it. It kept the air fresh, germs down, and we had nearly no sickness. I love to do it at home during the day - just air out a bedroom or even the whole house if the weather is permitting. Something about fresh air just makes you feel good!

My family teased me for doing this very thing. I am notorious for walking into the house, and saying "it smells like room in here." I love to open the Windows and just breathe with the house. ESPECIALLY DURING OR JUST AFTER THE RAIN!!!!
The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

I do this as often as possible, it really does make a difference. Here in Texas, I have to keep the house closed up pretty much from May to at least September due to the heat, but we live with the windows open as often as possible. I can't stand the "stale" air when the house is sealed up! |

Tell me about stale air. We are living in a 1871 victorian till our farmhouse renovations are complete. The windows don't open anymore. I know they can be fixed but I won't be the one to do it! I sure do miss opening the windows. I've resorted to leaving doors open. That will work until all the bugs wake up. New house has great windows and well placed for cross ventilation so at least I have that to look forward to! Connie

I am so grateful that spring is finally arriving. I can't wait until I can leave windows open day and night! I love the soft fresh air coming in and hearing the gentle sounds from my windchimes. Sometimes these quite moments are precious. I just miss holding Nora as an infant and listening to the birds chirp outside out open windows. That was a wonderful time in my life. :)

We slept with windows open last night. So wonderful to hear all the animals and frogs singing us to sleep!

Hi Alee, Sorry to hear you all are sick, I hope you feel better soon! We all had the chest cold bout in our house too. It took a good 5 weeks to overcome. It must be going around in our neck of the woods(Montana) I do not know how many people I have talked to that said they have had it! It is raining in Lolo tonight so it's open window time again, and lots and lots of blankets, and hopefully push all those cold bugs out of our house!!
