Stacyville is 20 minutes above Milinocket 3 miles from Patten Maine. I live to sew quilt work, I make personalized quilt pillows with pictures on them, I sew craft work such as making dolls, make curtains, clothing, table runners etc. Do know the Butterfield family in Springfield Maine?

I have done craft fairs in the past but not for a long time, also had some items not quilts but different craft items, in artisans. I have been making or hats for my daughter who sells them at the hospital. Are there a lot of craft fairs in maine?

Hooray!!!

Maine farmgirls! I thought I was the only one!
I live on the coast in Chamberlain--down the Pemaquid Penninsula from Damariscotta, about 65 or so miles from Portland.
As I have mentioned in other threads, I'm a woodworker but I'm also am a knitter and I hope to learn to sew one of these days.

There is a wonderful place to sell crafts in New Harbor, Maine. It is a coop and, I think you have to work there a certain number of days and agree to keep a certain number of items in stock and, I think you have to give some percentage (not too much) to the coop too. If you make a lot of wares, it might be a good option for you.

The Common Ground Fair is a wonderful venue for selling crafts too--especially if you can double-up, triple-up, or more with a group and all go in together on a booth.

I love all the farmgirls but I'm just so happy to know that some of you live nearby!

Karen

The Common Ground Fair is held each year in late September, I'm pretty sure.
For the past several years it was held in the town of Unity. I don't know whether it is always held there or not.

If I remember correctly, it is put on by the Maine organic farming organization---I think it's called MOFGA or something close to that.

It's a wonderful three-day event, although, when I go I try to arrive early on the Friday morning, right when they open. The place gets swarmed by the weekend. They have all sorts of back to the earth activities: iron work, draft horses pulling plows, beekeeping seminars, soil experts, livestock management discussions, chickens...

Jill, I think I'm quite far from Stacyville, Sherman, and Patten, if they are in Arostook(sp?) County. If you can locate Damariscotta on your map (in Lincoln County), I'm down the coast, down the Pemaquid Penninsula from there. Damariscotta is between Wiscasset and Thomaston. Thomaston is not far from Belfast.
Does that help you?

And, no, I am not part of a Maine Farmgirl Chapter. I wish I was.
I emailed someone who lives in, I think, Brunswick, who either had or has a chapter -- I did this a few months ago--but I never heard back from her.

Maybe one of us should start a chapter?

Deb,
there is a whole section somewhere on this site about the chapters.

So great to hear from everyone,

Karen

Hi Cheryl,

Did you get a lot of snow? Our cellar is flooded but we only got rain.
Looks like mud season is in full swing here on the coast!

I love Vermont too. I lived in Putney some years ago.

Do any of you Maine FarmGirls have a farm or have a garden? My garden is teeny--but I'm trying.
No farm critters. Just two cats. We're in a township and have less than two acres.

I am so excited I entered the egg carton swap and my partner for the swap is Deb from Springfield Maine, what are the chances of getting another partner from Maine? Cheryl how is the weather up there we are considering going up north to Stacyville in April dont want to turn the farm on to early so it gets moldy an musty hoping we can get into the drive that the plows have not closed the end of the driveway on route 11.

Hi Cheryl and Jill,
Nice to see new posts. I thought all my jabbering might have scared you away...

Yes, Cheryl, Brattleboro is really nice. I loved it there. Putney too.
I have yet to visit any spot in Vermont that didn't make me want to stay.

Jill, that's wonderful news about Deb and the egg carton swap. What's an egg carton swap? Good luck with opening your house. Most of the snow around here melted over the past couple weeks and over here we have only gotten a few more inches, which has mostly melted too. I know it's much snowier inland though.

Nice to hear from all you Maine girlfriends,

Karen

Hi Jill,

I can't speak for inland or up-county but here on the mid coast, Friday's and Monday's snows have both melted and the fog is setting in.
It's warming up and we have crocuses (sp?) and other determined little greens leading the springtime charge!
Welcome back!
