If you are interested in a cereal box journal, they are $6.00 each (covers cost of binding and paper), plus shipping. At this moment I do not know how much these will cost to ship, but they are made from cereal boxes, and filled with over a 1/2 inch of 100% recycled copy paper. Send me an e-mail if you are interested.

I'll add more for Findlay later. Tammy, do you have information about any Farmer's markets in that area?
Kristina, Suter's sets up their stand on Rt. 224 in Findlay close to McDonald's. I know it's not a market, per se, but they do offer a great deal and are consistent with their hours of operation. Their sweet corn is worth every penny!

What a wonderful idea - you're such a thoughtful Momma, Kristina! Things like that will surely be keepers and something they will cherish for years to come. My Mom has a Better Homes and Garden cookbook that she was given to her by my maternal Grandma when they were first married. Needless to say it is time worn, and one can clearly see that the dessert section had the most use. ;)
As for the recipe collection, my Mom is thinking of making one for me and my sisters-in-law's as well as my three nieces. Her thought was to put them in a three ring binder along with a little note of how this recipe came about and who/where it was generated from. Also, many of her recipes are 'published' in various recipe books from her church(s) and she includes that information as well. I don't think she cares for her own handwriting so she will type a majority of it as well. Although there are various websites that offer binders (or similar) to do this - she and I have found that they're not very personable and look too 'office-like.' But other chapter ladies may have found something better, and I'd love to hear from them too as I'd like to pass it on to my Mom.
I thought, too, of using a scrapbooking type theme and include pictures. There are loads of scrapbook papers with cooking themes to them as well as stickers and 3 dimensional applications.
Just a thought!

Today (and I promise this will be my last post today!;) I am finishing up installing a storm door on our front porch. Yesterday I ran into some snafus with the door frame and needing a bit of shimming so I didn't get it finished before it got dark. I had to run to my favorite haunt - Menards - for a piece of prepainted wood. This is a dangerous place for someone like me to be in as I can lose all track of time as I wander down each aisle and have brain overload with ideas. Sooo I have to fine tune the handle, latch, sweep and plunger(?) and it'll be done. I wanted SO much to complete it before hubby came home from work so he could see what this farm chic had done all by her lonesome....... Oh well.
As for reading, hubby and I have to run to Findlay to get some groceries and will stop by the library to pick up my copy of 'Chasing Harry Winston' that my reading group will be reading for the month of May.
A picnic in Findlay, or wherever, sounds like a fantastic idea for us goils. I'm so anxious to meet everyone.
Last, but certainly not least - Kristina you're doing a fabulous job with setting up things for our chapter and keeping us updated!

Karen, I can't wait to see your screen door. I know what you mean about those types of stores - ha ha! They are such a fun place to shop.
You just reminded me about a family cookbook I printed up several years ago. I totally forgot about them. I can copy them and give each one a copy. I can add to it also. They are in 3-ring binders and in plastic page protectors. I completely forgot. Thanks for the reminder. I had added quotes, memories and had the kids draw a photo for each section. Since I numbered the pages, and had an index, I may have to add a section at the end. Not sure how I will do that. Hmm.
I also keep forgetting to tell you all that I found flour sack towels at the Dollar General 3/$3.00. If you are working on your embroidery badges, it's a great price. I still have to iron on my pattern and may take it with me this weekend (disconnect to reconnect). I'm not sure what price it would be in your area, but worth to check.

I don't know much about the Findlay area farmers market...but Bluffton has a good size one on Saturdays starting in May and ending in October from 9-12. They set up in the parking lot on Main St. As for recipes for your children I did something similar for mine ... put all there favorite recipes on cards for them then when they moved out gave them the stack. One is a vegetarian so all her recipes were family favorites we doctored to be vegetarian. Of course my son is in college so I still have his. It is a great idea and one my girls appreciated. Does installing a storm door count towards a badge? ;)

Spinning Class: April 30, 2011
I will not be able to to attend this class. However, they have told me they offer it every year the same time, so I plan to put it in my schedule for next year.
With the horrible storms and days of rain, we have to spend tomorrow planting in the garden. They are calling for 70° weather and then rain again on Sunday. I plan on delegating, so hopefully the kids will do their share in planting also.
I am on the look out to buy at least 2 full grown guinea's. We may buy some at an auction down in Amish country if we can't find any around this area. If you know of anyone selling a few, please e-mail me. We really want to add them to the farm.
