Farm Fair Celebration Give-Away
I sure wish I could go to the Farm Fair at MaryJane's Farm, don't you? (And, for those of you who are going...lucky Farmgirls....we want to hear about everything when you get back!) For me, disappointment always leads to either shopping or eating. In this case, it has led to both! I ordered my "ToteBag Special" from MaryJane's Farm this morning (shopping!) which has the Farmgirl Budget Mix inside (soon to be doing some baking and GOOD eating!). To celebrate the upcoming Farm Fair (July 1 and 2) at MaryJane's Farm, decided to have a little give-away, Frannie-style. The prize? A "ToteBag Special" from MaryJane's Farm: a beautiful "Farmgirl at Heart" tote. The goodies inside the tote are Farmgirl Budget Mix (unbleached white), the "Farm Kitchen" issue, and a flour sack apron pattern. (Look on page 51 of the "Farm Kitchen" issue or MJ's website to see it.) So, here goes, everyone who posts a response by finishing one of the following sentences will be entered in the drawing. Winner gets the "ToteBag Special," straight from the Farm.

Here's the sentence to complete:

If I could go MaryJane's Farm Fair this year, the first thing I'd do is.....
OR
When I get to MaryJane's Farm Fair this year, the first thing I'm going to do is.....

I don't know when the drawing will take place, so hurry up and enter.

Rebekah, you are amazing! I just love this idea. I am a lucky one and will be able to go so I'm not going to enter the contest, but think this is a wonderful idea! I will be bringing my camera and taking lots and lots of pictures. I am so excited..really getting over my vendor jitters and starting to be jazzed about meeting so many new people and putting faces to names I've only seen typed on this forum. It will be a really cool time. I'm pitching a tent with my 4 year old and 2 year old too..that should be a fascinating experience. I am really looking forward to it!

By the way, how are your fairies these days?

Many smiles to you,
Julia Hayes

When I get to MaryJane's Farm Fair this year, the first thing I'm going to do is..... get out of the car and stretch! It's gonna be some hard driving, Texas to Northern Idaho in 2 1/2 days! Then pitch my tent, strap on my apron, and get around to meeting all you fabulous ladies! I'll be the one in the silver beetle with the Texas Flag on the antenna!

What a thoughtful idea Rebekah!!

If I could go to MaryJane's Farm Fair this year, the first thing I would do is...spin in a circle and try to take in what I have been yearning for- A farm, with friends who understand my desires for a simpler life. I believe I would be spinning for quite a while!! Then a hug from MaryJane for encouragement, and the chance to meet the farmgirls and hug each of them for all of the ideas, advice and friendship they have given me.

The first thing I'm going to do when I get to Farm Fair is look around MaryJane's beautiful farm! I've tried to envision it in my mind for so long -- I absolutely can't wait to see it in person. Then I can't wait to meet everyone!

You are a genius Rebekah, what a cool idea, but you are also very generous and sweet to make it fun for everyone. I will not be going, so it's a great idea to be having something made from MJF mixes in support of everyone who will be there. Somewhere in there is a connection, do you feel it?

If I could go MaryJane's Farm Fair this year, the first thing I'd do is.....
thank God for getting me there safely and for the wonderful opportunity to actually be at the farm where it all began and continues to grow. Then I would take out my camera and start taking pictures of all there is to see and all my farmgirl friends so I could take them home with me. Then I would try to find Mary Jane and her staff to thank them as sincerely and humbly as I can for sharing her vision and heart so that all of us have a way to connect to each other and our roots. And finally, I'd have the time of my life while I'm there.

Maybe next year.....we can only hope.

Blessings to all the farmgirls for all you share and do to keep our spirits alive. Special prayers for those traveling to have safe and fun trips on the way to the farm. Say hello to Mary Jane and staff for me!

In His hands,
Lynda L.

If I could go to MaryJane's Farm Fair this year, the first thing I'd do is . . . cry, and laugh, at the same time and then just grin -- I'd be so thrilled to meet MaryJane and all her folk, and lots of wonderful farmgirls!

If I could go to Farm Fair this year, the first thing I'd do is try to find everybody I've made friends with over the chat and at the farm and give them a big farmgirl hug.

When I go to the Farm Fair this year, the first thing I'm gonna do is straighten my apron, put on my straw hat, find the restroom, and then go and see how many of you are there with your name tags on so I can say Hi.

If I could go to MaryJane's farm this year, the first thing I would do is...hold my breath and take it all in. The smell, the sounds, the beautiful farm girls, the thrill of actually being there. Then I would hunt down MJ and thank her from the bottom of my heart for doing such a wonderful job at getting kindred spirits together.

The first thing I would do is adjust my apron and head out to see her cow. I would bring greetings from Mona.

Sweet Rebekah-
When I get to farm fair...I am going to set up my little booth- with slings and other Mama delights, get my daughter some fresh strawberries and peas, rub my growing belly and enjoy watching all the girls comin' up the road! I can't wait to sit there for a few days just seeing what will happen- and you know with these farmgirls something always does!!!
XOXO, Rebekka

(I will take our name in all it's spellings to the farm for you! And I just have to say, having hand sewn alot of those little 'farmgirl at heart' patches that those totes are made with alot of love- the letters are so beautiful and are really fun to stitch, you would think I would have made myself one by now!)

What a very nice and special idea Rebekah, I was kinda feeling the same way you do. I would love to go to farm fair, but that would mean leaving a lot of work at the nursery for my parents, so it'll have to be another time.

If I could go to MaryJanes Farm Fair this year, I would get out of the car look at my daughter and take a big breath of fresh Idaho air. I know we would both be so excited, we'd have the largest smiles on our faces that our cheeks would hurt. I would start looking around immediately for the 2 new farm quilts & Cindylou. Heather and I would probably stop in our tracks once we saw the fresh strawberry shortcake. We'd have to order one and share it, giving us the delicious energy to walk around and take it all in. I would love to meet everyone in person that we talk to each day and see all the ladies dressed in their fine country wear.

I hope everyone going has a safe and wonderful trip, you'll be in our prayers. And those that get to stay the night, look up in the sky and see all the stars around you. Just think that's how many farmgirls there are in the world wishing they were there with ya. Have a great time.

If I could go to MaryJane's Farm Fair this year, the first thing I'd do is look around for a tall, cool glass of fresh lemonade. There's got to be fresh lemonade there, right? Then I'd just smile as I walked around absorbing it all - all of the neat ladies and the beautiful farm, would hope to bump into MaryJane or Cindylou, would probably go nutso over crafts and homemade things...wish I could be there.

I would love to to make it to the Farm Fair. However, I am just so busy right now. To busy to be gone for more then just a day or so, and the farm fair is just to far to make a day trip. Between the veggies, animals, kids, and community obligations I am surprised I can even breath. However, if I could go to MaryJane's Farm Fair this year, the first thing I'd do is SCREAM and jump up and down, like I won the big prize on a game show.

What a nice thing to do for us!!

When I get to Farm Fair this year, The first thing I will do is going to be take my 2 year old to the potty because we are potty training and every time we stop we will have to take her.. if that doesn't count, the first thing we will do after that would be to treat ourselves to the shortcake booth because my little girls LOVE berries, love cake and don't get whipped cream very often so that will be a huge deal for them after sitting in the car for that long.

Bobbi.

you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive.

This is great! Keep those posts coming! If only we all could go...wouldn't that be amazing? Everybody there for one huge Farmgirl party...spinning and meeting and hugging and laughing and stretching and basking and crying and eating and sharing and apron-ing and shopping and camping and dancing...and...and...and...tell us more!

Such an awesome idea!!! Thanks Rebekah! (I'm going to answer this before reading anyone else's posts...)

If I could go MaryJane's Farm Fair this year, the first thing I'd do is.....head for the flour mill or sit in a truckload of wheat (as pictured here... http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/tour/virtual/tour4.as ). I love the smell of fresh ground flour and harvested wheat baking in the sun. When I was a girl, I'd ride on the wheat in the back of the wheat truck on the way to the grain elevator in town. On the way there, I'd eat handfuls of wheat, which would turn to a wheaty "gum" because of the gluton....boy do I miss those smells!!! Yep, I'd head for the grain first. Later on I'd walk through the fields of flowers and veggies and after that I'd check out the booths before bunking down in my tent. Oh, I'd love to go to Farm Fair!!! (Or just spend a few weeks on a farm...I so miss the smell of hay and feed and grain!)

BTW---here's a link to the mill near where I grew up. It's no longer used for "food grade" flour, but it's still in action making feed and has a neat store. I love to take my kids there when we go "home", then we play in the park just a 1/2 mile down the river. So many memories there, it's where I went to high school too!

The end will justify the pain it took to get us here.

Farmgirls, Y'all have through the weekend to join in this fun. I'm headed out of town in the a.m. and will plan to do the drawing when I get back on Monday. So...let's hear from some more of you! Farm Fair is the very next weekend!

The first thing I will likely do upon arrival is look for my vendor space or for Lucas to tell me where to plant myself. Then I'll get to luggin' boxes of goodies to set up. I have been going through boxes and pricing things. I made some vintage styled price tags that fit in with the farmgirl theme.

Then I am sure I will have to find something to drink (the lemonade sounded good) as I will probably be exhausted! In between carrying boxes I am sure I will be meetin' other farmgirls and laughing it up! Of course there is the shopping. So much to do...

If I could go to MaryJane's Farm Fair..the first thing I would do would be to stretch my legs from the looong ride...arch my back..and say"ahh!"..then breathe in that good old fresh country air..then start listening for all of the wonderful sounds of farm folks gathering, chatting, and laughing and feel like I was part of a wonderful gathering of folks enjoying a beautiful day of sunshine, fun and laughter. I'd mosey my way over to where the action was..take long looks at the rolling land and fields and just breathe in the smells again..by then the air would have smells of fine farmgirl cooking, the smell of the dirt and the grasses..earthy smells...mingling with good old home cooking. I'd meander through the vendor areas and admire all the farm handicraft items...I'd have to try some of the yummy foods available of course..and being a girl..I'd have to shop for unique things.. I'd also find myself watching people..I'd look at the babies in their mom's arms, the children laughing and enjoying the day too.The couples holding hads and walking together..I'd find myself wishing I could capture the smiles, the atmosphere on camera to carry the moments with me for later enjoyment and say to myself.."what a gorgeous day".

I was planning to go to the Farm Fair this year, but with my job situation, living on the land without a house and so much to do, my car in the shop (long story, very expensive to fix), and my hearing about my job being June 29, it's now out of the question. BUT, if I could have gone, the first thing I would have done is breathed a sigh of relief and a prayer of thanks that I'd made it!

Some people search for happiness; others create it.
