Our well is shared by our landlords and last night it either froze up or just quit working...the well people can't be here until tomorrow and we are with out water, which just stinks. I am not blaming the landlords, but I'm not happy with them either We really need a new well and pump, I know they are spendy, but where is my water when I need it?????
Sorry for the vent. I really cant afford to move and this is an ongoing issue. *sigh*

Annika,
That is so inconvenient. How do they compensate you when you are dry? Do they let you discount rent, at least? I would be so bent out of shape if it happened often. Vent away, you deserve to!
I hope they have plans for a new pump in the Spring?
Good luck! Marianne |

Annika- Your landlords should really be working harder to make this right with you. If it gets too bad you should really look into the landlord/tenant laws of Idaho. I know it states that you have to have available to you a secure dwelling, heat and water at all time. In places where you have to pay utilities it's not the landlords fault if they get shut off for non payment, but the ability to recieve it has to be provided. In your case because the well is faulty- they need to be calling an emergency service out or providing you with a hotel room free of charge until it is fixed. I know moving is expensive so I understand not wanting to make waves with them, but your really might consider writing a letter and sending them a certified copy of it outlining your expectations when the bare standard of living is not provided and you having to pay rent.
Protect your rights. We had to learn that the hard way a couple of times but it really is worth it in the end. *hugs*

I hope they can get it fixed. I hate being without water. When it's off I always seem to go to the sink. We are getting all bew water lines on our road. They've been working on it since last spring. They are about a mile away now. And every now and then the water is turned off for a few hours. So annoying to say the least. I just wish they'd warn us somehow. I guess I just need to keep gallons of water just in case. Because it will happen. Then I always call the water co. to see if I forgot to pay the bill. Which I have several times before.

Take those used milk jugs, clean and fill with water. It is a good idea to have emergency water anyways in case of power outages and such. You can store them around the house. I have them in closets, under sinks, and then pull out when you need. Change them yearly. Use the old water to water plants and refill.
Hope this gets fixed soon for you. Laurie
