Hi girls!
A friend just sent this (below) this morning. This is SO awesome... A few years back, friends and I founded a 501(c)(3) charity which benefitted breast cancer patients undergoing treatment. We paid bills and helped with other expenses for patients. It's not in operation anymore (we were completely volunteer - and although many had the best of intentions, most did not fulfill their commitments, so we had to close - for now), but we did have a few years of tremendous success in fundraising and assisting those in need.
One of our patients through the foundation once shared with me the importance of keeping your house clean while undergoing chemo. It was a HUGE priority for her (While your immune system is down, germs in your body can not only wreak havoc with your system, but also can become serously life-threatening). She lived alone, but knew it had to be done, so she would be sick as a dog, feeling like dying, cleaning and vomiting... I wish we had known about this then. This is really so awesome! People need to know it exists. Perhaps you know someone, or you know of someone who could use this kind of service. Please pass it on!

Cleaning for a Reason
If you know any woman currently undergoing chemotherapy, please pass the word to her that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning - once per month for 4 months while she is in treatment. All she has to do is sign up and have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service in her zip code area arrange for the service. This organization serves the entire USA and currently has 547 partners to help these women. It's our job to pass the word and let them know that there are people out there that care. Be a blessing to someone and pass this information along.

Great information. You may not know someone going through chemo, but someone on your email list might!
God gave us two hands... one to help ourselves, and one to help others!

A friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago so a group of us went over to her house before her chemo started and did a 'deep cleaning' of her house. We went from top to bottom, scrubbing, dusting, purging and rearranging. We helped her husband and 2 boys clean out the bedrooms and made a couple trips to Goodwill. At one point she came up to take a picture of the 'three hot girls' cleaning her bathroom. She figured she should get a picture because it would never happen again ;) We even scrubbed down the walls, since there was tobacco residue coming through the paint. She was so grateful that she didn't have to stress about the house cleaning during her treatments that we all had warm fuzzies for a while because we helped them out. |
