Just wanted to come in and introduce myself! What an great forum!

My name is Ida, wife to Ray, mom to Sara 17, Derek 15, and step daughters Lauren 14 and Tori 11. We live on a small hobby farm in SW Ohio. Sara Derek and I are fairly new to Ohio..up until almost 5 years ago and have really grown to love it here. We are from NJ originally.

Before becoming a stay at home mom about a year ago I worked as a case manager with families who had children diagnosed with mental illness also in school settings with inner city teens. Ray works as a workshop manager where he provides employment to individuals with brain injury and also at a local group home where 3 men get living assistance. Sara took a job this summer milking at a dairy farm of a family we go to church with. She loves it!

On our farm we have 2 horses, chickens, runner ducks, way too many cats and a beagle. I have started raising rabbits recently, lionheads, havanas, and holland lops. Now I just need to find a market to sell them!! Ray and I are talking about raising some cornish hens to sell and for us too....still in the talking stage! I own a small soy candle business and also make bath and body products and dog and horse treats that I sell at a local farmers market on Saturday mornings! I also love to quilt but never seem to have the time....lol...but have made several rag quilts and started quite a few others....one day I will finish them! We have a huge garden this year and I am hoping to learn more about canning to preserve our harvest.

I can't wait to get to know you guys!! Anyone else in SW Ohio or SE Indiana?

Welcome Ida, just run around to the different sites and put your two cents in or more, so much to learn here, trades to make on the swapsite, games to play, good books and sewing ideas, it just goes on and on. I check in on the site often, have to see what is going on like a nosey neighbor.

Welcome Ida,

Glad to meet you. Your small farm sounds great. Like Nancy Jo said - just jump on in. There's so much great info shared here.

Welcome Ida. I don't think that you have enough to do!! My goodness!!
My sister lives in Cincinnati right now, but is moving just across the river into Kentucky. I love Ohio. It is such a beautiful, peaceful state.
