Hey Ladies,
I LOVE granola bars, the chewy kind. I am very fond of a local brand tha tis organic but I figure I can make them on my own and they'd be cheaper. Anyone have any good recipes? The ones I like have flax seed and hemp seed in them.

If you make your own granola already, granola bars are easy. Just add 1 beaten egg and 1/2 c. applesauce to 2 cups of granola. press gently into a pan. Bake 20 min. take out of oven. cut while warm.
Otherwise:
4 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups assorted stuff: flax seed, sunflowers, chopped almonds, miniature semisweet chocolate chips, dried fruits, etc.
Mix put in 9x13 pan. Bake 325 for 18-20 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes. Cut. Leave in pan until cool. Remove. wrap. enjoy.
If it's not illegal, unsafe, or immoral, why not try anything once? Who knows? You may come back for a second helping! |
