Does anyone make their own body powder?
I would like to use a commercial fragrance to scent some body powder, but not sure how to combine ingredients?
They don't make a body powder for this fragrance, and I have extremely sensitive skin so use powder instead of deoderants. I would like to make my own....any help?

Great question!! I'm interested in this too. DH aske me to buy some body powder yesterday and I immediately said I'd rather make it but I have no idea where to begin! I'll br watching this tread.

I love to use just plain old cornstarch! A vanilla bean or dried citrus peels tucked in give it a fun scent.

I saw that you can add essential oils to baking soda to make a carpet deoderizer so apparently once it is all combined, it is still possible to shake it, or in my case maybe make a pouf and use it, SO, I am going to try to combine my perfume with my usual gold bond unscented powder and see what result I get...will post later!

Don't know if it's too late to post, but here's what I did. I found a recipe online that called for rice flour, arrow root powder and corn starch. 1 C. rice flour, 1 C. corn starch, and 1/4 c. arrow root powder. I mixed them all in a mason jar. Then, I took a large cotton ball and saturated it with my perfume. I didn't have the oil or the fancy stuff - just sprayed the heck out of it! I dropped it in the jar, and shook well. I put it in my linen closet, so every night, I shook it up and made sure the cotton ball was moving around. I did this for the recommended week. I decanted it into a powder box I'd purchased online and love it. The scent holds well - matches my perfume, and life its sorta good.
Here's the bad thing. The rice flour I found was an organic brand from Whole Foods. (This is not knocking organic things, whole foods, or rice flour. The nearest store is 3 hours away, so it's not like I can go easily and comparison shop or exchange.) It's coarse. Almost like cornmeal coarse. It doesn't dust well and left a gritty film on my bathroom floor. In fact, it's heavy enough it's often left in my powder box. I don't have a mortar and pestle and debated about putting it in my coffee grinder or food processor. Don't know how to make it finer, really. Other than that, it was great and I will make more.
I do recommend trying it - it was relatively inexpensive (compared to perfumes and perfumed powders) and it was nice to do something myself. Any advice on coarse flour would be appreciated!

If you put the rice flour in a food processor or coffee grinder and grind for some time, you can stop and test the coursness, it will work.

I make my own dusting powder.
I have a mini Cuisinart food processor that I got at a garage sale for $5 that I use just for it.
In it I place:
1/3 C arrowroot powder
1/3 C cornstarch
1/3 C kaolin clay
30 drops lavender essential oli
20 drops rose geranium essential oil
I just turn it on for about a minute then pour it into a pint mason jar to store.
I use it to refill my pretty glass powder container with the big fluffy powder puff.
I love it.....

May I ask what the arrowroot powder and the clay do? Moisturize or absorb moisture?
