OK... so back in mid October I found this interesting Poll from Alee http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=45862 and it lead to this...

I was reading MJ's latest Cluck and found that November 17th is Homemade Bread Day. It's an actual day and not just for Farmgirls :) I suggested that everyone commit to baking some homemade bread on the 17th and post as to how it turned out. Herbaldy55 (aka Judy) thought I should post a new thread & see if I get any nibbles.

So, here goes...This is not a challenge or a swap, but if you'd like to join me on Homemade Bread Day, please do! Judy said she'd join in. If you can, include a pic of your yummy goodness. Maybe you can try a new recipe or just rely on that tried & true one.

I have never made good 'ol homemade bread and thought this would be a great day to start! Plus... I think it will be neat to think of all the other farmgirls that'll be baking with me...in spirit anyway:)

So, I'll be back here on the 17th to let y'all know what a success (or disaster) it was ;)

Thanks to Judy for suggesting I post this!

* * * We are sharing the recipes we use * * *

I will do it! :D I just put a loaf in the oven right now and was going to post the recipe in the farm kitchen. How ironic! But count me in! :D I have been wanting to make my own bread instead of buying... trying to ... hopefully, I will BECOME more successful with this soon.

Could you share your everyday bread recipe, Amy?

Would love to particpate in the Homemade Bread Day on the 17th. I use to bake bread all the time. This gives me the incentive to be creative again. Love the theraputic process of handling dough! Count me in!

Our regular everyday bread recipe is posted here on my blog - its the "honey wheat/white recipe" after I get done blabbing at the beginning of the post. :)

I think I can manage that. =) I am super excited because we found a bread machine at the thrift the other day for 8 bucks. It works like a charm. SO I can make bread even on the days when I have to go to work or am busy with other outside of the home things. On the days I get to be home all day I can do it by hand.

Do what you love, love what you do.

Beverly, please count me in, too. I love baking bread and have some new recipes that have been patiently waiting for me to try them. Like many, though, I have my tried and true recipes that I always turn to, so this is a good idea. Thanks for the notice, too, about the special designation. We have a community baking day at our historic site and we invite people to bring whatever they want to bake in our brick oven over the first Saturday of the month. So this will be fun to pass along to our "community bakers." It's this coming Saturday, if you live close enough to join in, would love to bake together.

Pray in faith and you will not live in doubt.

I will definitely join in the fun using the recipe at my website on the blog. I love homemade bread - with real butter and a fresh pot of beans and ham!!! OK, mouth watering.

Beverly, thanks for checking out the blog and I'm so glad you could find a bread recipe you liked. You inspired me to redo my categories to make it easier for people to find particular food categories. Don't know why I didn't think of it before!

I usually double the sandwich bread recipe at the blog for two loaves, but this time I think I'll make cinnamon rolls out of the second instead of a loaf. I know. I'm bad.

And I guess I can really get crazy? I'll be grinding my wheat on our stone mill to make whole wheat bread. Little Red Hen, here I come!!! :-)
