I need help. I just started this part-time job and they require that you wear this red sweatshirt when you are working and it's really cheap. It has stained my arms red and everyone keeps thinking I have a sun burn. I have scrubbed my skin for over a week now and it has not changed at all. I have soaked the shirt in a vinigar solution to set the dye but what can I do for my arms. I am so mad! Am I going to look like a lobster all summer? Help, Rose |

Oh, Rose! I'm so sorry - I wonder if you can wear a long-sleeved T-shirt under the sweatshirt if the vinegar doesn't do the trick?!? It's so hot, though... Dang. Does everyone where you work have red arms? (That sounded funny, didn't it!) I just mean - what do the others do?
I don't know what to do about your arms, except to wait and try out different stories on people - perhaps that you have been fortunate enough to spend the last week in Bermuda? .
XOXO, Libbie

rose .. tell them that YOU are turning ROSE because of the shirt and you fear you are allergic and are willing to buy a dye-free shirt. mention that you might have to see a DOCTOR (ha! and maybe even a LAWYER) if it gets any worse!
o.k. .. maybe not the doctor and lawyer part .. but honestly, tell them your fear for your health with the red dye absorbing into your skin. xo

Vinegar is often used to "fix" dyes. I don't know about it removing them. You might try slathering yourself in lotion two or three times a day. The alcohol in it may help to remove the dye. This would be better than applying rubbing alcohol straight to your skin. I often use lotion to remove grass stains from my leather tennis shoes and it works quite well.
Good luck, Lucinda

Thanks ladies for your suggestions. I am still a light shade of red and I have told them I will not wear the sweatshirt and they are okay with it since my boss got red arms too. For now I will tell everyone who asks that I just got back from Bermuda. Thanks for the lotion tip Lucinda, I really didn't want to use alcohol straight on my arms. Pretty in pink, Rose |

You could try peroxide, it bleaches things out, maybe it would take the dye off your skin too!
