no pun intended...but my homemade laundry soap (sugar as my son likes to call it) doesn't create suds..am I doing something wrong? I use borax, baking soda and golly, blanking on the name of that yellow bar of soap in the laundry section..I just mix it all together and grate that bar of soap...what's it called...nels..? nope, its not coming to me....the point being, I'm not getting any suds in the washing machine..Have I been brainwashed into thinking that soapy/sudsy is cleaner? My clothes are turning out just fine..just wondering..you know, my mom will be visiting soon and she likes to be able to taste the Tide in her clothes!! let me know!!
thanks a million, Julia Hayes

Fels naptha? As to suds, if your clothes look and smell clean, they probably are, regardless of the suds.

It doesn't suds like the store bought laundry detergent. Yes -- we are brainwashed -- we think lots of suds means clean when it doesn't! I haven't made this for a while but used about a cup a load. Then I did white vinegar in the rinse to make sure all the soap residue got out of the clothes.

I feel the same way especially when I'm cleaning. If I don't have tons of bubbles and suds, in my mind I think it's not clean.

i use just the borax and baking soda and i love it. no suds to stay in the laundry. i cant stand the taste of the air when our neighbors are doing laundry with all the perfume, yuck! i also add vinegar. I also have no trouble with sensitive skin, no more breakouts on the little ones. Stick with it and fight the brainwashing!

i think this is great that folks are starting to recognize that no suds does not mean not clean!!

We use 7th generation products mostly, though I am trying to get to a point of making my own laundry soap. NONE of the 7th gen stuff suds at all because the chems necessary to make suds just aren't present...yet my home is clean and healthy!
