This poor fella, on Friday night about midnight, waddled up our driveway during a rain pour!
He came with no collar, signs of neglect were evident, overgrown toenails, sores on his tummy, too skinny for a healthy Basset Hound.
We are not sure if we are keeping him, but in the mean time we are fostering him. I called the Animal Control to see if anyone has called for their missing Basset... no surprise.. no one called. So, I am now in contact with the lady at the Humane Society ...to get Mr.P (we named him after our wonderful friend in Washington who has two Bassets of his own) to a vet to have him looked over and tested for heart worm and such... for the time being, we'll foster him.
Lord... I know why you sent Mr.P to us.... but please direct me on what we are suppose to do in the end. Thank You Lord.

Oh bless his heart!! Mr. P knew who's driveway to waddle up and you will know what the right thing to do with him is. Sweet ole boy! So happy he found you! I become soooooo furious when these animals are abused/neglected!!! What is wrong with people???

Karrieann, he's so cute! He really doesn't look too old. Just needs some lovin'. Poor guy. Those are the saddest looking dogs I have ever seen. But they are so sweet. The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond, has one. She blogs about him all the time. He's hillarious. I hope you get some good news from the vets and he's healthy. Have fun with him while he's there with you. He did know the right place to go, didn't he. You are a sweetie for taking him in.

Oh how precious is he! He doesn't know how blessed he is to have happened upon your home Karieann. I hope you keep him or he finds a nice loving family to take him in. He just looks like he needs some real love, poor thing.

Oh Karrieann! You are doing a beautiful thing by caring for him. He needs someone to love him and make him feel needed and you are doing just that. Every animal needs to feel loved. It looks like hes been through a very hard time.

Oh my goodness.. If Ree Drummond saw him, she would take him I am sure. Charlie would have a buddy!

Karrieann, He is precious! We have a basset granddog that our kids adopted from Basset Hound Rescue of Georgia. If you want, that could be a good contact for you to make if you want to "rehome" him. I'm thinking your little beagle would like a new friend????? Watcha think about that 
You were so kind to rescue him. Please let us know what the vet says - maybe he's microchipped!

Karrieann, I had a feeling that big boy wasn't going anywhere but there with ya'll. Good for him for finding a good home! I wish you all a lot of very happy years together. I can't wait to hear more about him.

My sister has always had basset hounds and she loves them. They are very cheerful dogs in spite of their sad faces. Lucky for Mr. P he found a farmgirl to take care of him.

Oh Karrieann, I am so happy to hear that you have adopted him, or was it he adopted you? Anyway congratulations! How is his little brother taking to him. Now you will have to make a bigger sling for Mr P  . I can just see that now, too funny!
