So, two nights ago I started feeling really sick (dizzy, short of breath, nauseous and just plain awful) and I thought I just needed some sleep as I hadn't gotten much this weekend. Well, after a night's rest I didn't feel any better and was wondering what the heck was wrong with me. Then I realized that it was the middle of August and I get really sick EVERY year at this time because it is the start of ragweed season. So, I ran to the drug store really quick and bought some zyrtec. It's the only thing that saves me every year from being completely miserable. I've tried natural remedies, but haven't found anything that works. Within two hours of taking it I felt normal again. I really wish there were some other choice for me than taking zyrtec every single day until the season is over. I'm a girl who hardly ever takes a tylenol, better yet a daily drug for allergies, but I can't function during this season without it.

Anyone else highly allergic to ragweed and dread this time of year? What do you do to cope? Have you found any natural relief?

Loook into neti pots. They are now sold at most health food stores and even WalMart, in the pharmacy dept. A neti pot will wash out the pollen than stays in your nose and continues to be an irritant.

The morning breeze has secrets to tell you. Do not go back to sleep.

I have one, Melina. It hasn't worked in the past, but I have to admit I didn't use it proactively. And by the time I'd try to use it when the season had already hit, the solution would not even flow through as things were just so congested and swollen up in there. I'm pretty clear right now. Maybe I'll give it a go again.

I was also going to suggest a Neti Pot. I try to do it every morning. It has helped with my sinus and allergy problems tremendously. I used to take Tylenol Sinus EVERY day before I started using it. Now I might take it once a month.

Sorry I don't really have any suggestions for you Siobhan. Keep hydrated though. I will be praying for this to pass quick for you.

I second the neti pot! But you have to use it in order for it to help you.
