I bought DH new Levi's for Christmas, then 3 more pairs last week. He's worn 501's 34x34 for 40 years! They did the usual shrinking in the waist, but not in the length. He now has 4 new pair of Levis that are about 3 inches too long. Grrrrr! Are they no longer "shrink to fit"? And why didn't I get the memo?

Dang! That kind of stuff is so annoying!!! I tend to get jeans pre- shrunk at the thrift store. Too bad that does not always pan out for husbands, wah! Mary LD

Today it is impossible to buy anything without trying on, you now can pick up the same pants same size go in and try on and they fit different don't understand how they can do that? jill Lillian
i use to wonder the same thing, but now that it's been explained to me, it's very simple. thousands and thousands sheets of fabric are layed out at a time and cut with huge blade or (in the most modern plants) a lazer. if the the cutting impliment is not calabrated perfectly, the size of the bottom pieces will be either smaller or larger than those on top. since as little as 1/4 inch on each pattern piece can cause an entire size varriation, this can cause a lot of headache for us when we try to buy the garments.
