I added lemon verbena to my herb garden a few years ago, but have not utilized it well. Do you have any recipes or uses to share?

I love this herb. You can dry it and put it in soaps.
You can boil the plant leaves in water and rinse your hair with it after you take a shower to improve circulation in your scalp.
Infusions that contain lemon verbena are recommended for reducing stress, clearing up a cold and improving digestion.
It is known for making a refreshing cup of hot tea when combined with mint.

hope this helps!
Hugs,
Channah

Lemon Verbena is one of my favorite jelly making herbs. I make an infusion by filling a quart jar with clean leaves and pouring boiling water over and letting steep for a few hours to overnight. Then you can use this infusion in your jellies...very lemony and yummy.

Ever since reading about Laura Ingalls loving the scent of lemon verbena I knew I had to have some :-) I dry the leaves and that of lime basil and lemon thyme then add grind it up with sea salt. I use this every day in every way I would use just plain salt...even in baking. I use it when making lemonade, lemon sorbet...anything needing a little extra lemon flavor. Enjoy finding ways to use the herb...I think even rubbing the leaves daily is good enough!

where did you find lemon verbena? I have had the worst time finding plants. In fact this is the second summer I haven't found any.

Our local nursery usually has them on hand but I ordered them from Bluestone Perennials - wonderful doing business with them.

I agree with Jenny that it makes wonderful jelly. It is also what I use to give my lemon bread and scones their lemon flavor. I like is so much better than grated lemon peel. It dries really well, too.

Just experiment with it. I don't think you can make a mistake. Don't forget about just using it for tea.

I honestly can't remember where I bought it. I planted it 2 years ago, when we moved in to rent this farm house. Now that we have bought the place, the plant has really grown. A farmer's market may have some.
