I've been reading about herbs and their medicinal/cosmetic uses, etc. and I bought a bottle of rosewater. I'm curious as to how many uses there are for it--can I use it as a toner by itself? It says can be used to add subtle flavor to food--how much is safe to use? Can it be added to potpourri? Does it have any medicinal uses? It smells nice but what am I supposed to do with it? Cindy |

I've heard that it can be used as purfume, and even in baking. Hugs, Channah

Thanks, Channah! I did find a recipe for rose petal jam that uses rosewater--but I think I'll have to wait till spring for the rose petals! Cindy |

Thanks for the sweet reminder. It was the only scent my grandma ever wore. Didn't know they still made rosewater (or rosewater glycerine which is what I think she used). She's been gone for many years but it was her signature scent and I wish I could snuggle up to her once more and have that rosewater aroma pour over me.

Rose water is the middle eastern version of vanilla. They use it quite often in desserts and cookies. I have several Persian (my husband is originally from Iran) recipes if you are interested.

Yes, rosewater can be used as toner alone. It works nicely too.
Also..rose ice cream is a good use for rosewater that is food grade :)

Rosewater is what is left when you make essential oil from roses. It is great for skin, especially older skin. Using it as a toner is an excellent idea. You can also use it on food. I have seen it used as a very light salad dressing. Rose is also great for use during times of loss. The vibrations for rose is very high so it can sometimes cause headaches. But if you like it, it is awesome. I have even eaten candy made out of it. Sorry don't have the recipe. It is a great pick me up for your skin if it has been out in the cold or the heat. Just sprits it on.

Deb & Emily, I sent both of you E-mails asking you to respond to me. There isn't an "attach" feature on the MJF E-mail. Once I hear from you I'll send the recipes.

I keep it in a spray bottle with glycerin added and I spray it all over after my bath, even my face. It really helps dry skin...an the smell is just a bonus!!!

I love rosewater! I use it by itself as a toner, or add a few drops of essential oil to the bottle for a light fragrance mist. I sometimes mix it with glycerin to make a nice facial moisturizer.
Dawn, I would love to have recipes if you wouldn't mind sharing them with me, also! Blessings, Catherine

ddmashayekhi, I emailed you also and would love it if you would share your recipes with me. Thanks also for sharing where I can find Rosewater. I looked nearly everywhere for it a few years ago. In what department is it found in Whole Foods and is there a certain brand you use more than another?
Thanks! barnagainkristin

Kristin, I hope you got the recipes. Whole Foods has rosewater in their baking section, by the vanilla and other extracts.
Catherine, I sent you an E-mail regarding the recipes.
