Sure you will have a great time, My daughter and family came back from there about two weeks ago, had a great time, the little ones loved it. just remember, long lines, hot, and wear good shoes. Also study ahead of time what you want to do and see. My daughter was on line a whole lot before they went to check out events and all the ticket prices etc. Some tickets she bought ahead online, they were cheaper and the best part, when you got there you didn't have to wait in line to get them. Are you going to stay right in the park? My brother in law and family did, cost a lot more, but they thought that was the way to go. My daughter stayed outside, but near, they loved the place they stayed, and a shuttle went to all the parks several times a day.So they didn't have a car when they were ther. They were picked up at the airport by the place they were staying at.

Frannie you lucky duck. Haven't been there in years. I went with my folks when I was just 5 or 6 and we were staying in Daytona Beach. Hopped in the car to go see Mickey, I was soooo excited and when we arrived I realized I hadn't brought any shoes. My parent were none too pleased but it was worse for me. I had to walk a thousand miles in flip flops. My feet still hurt!

Have a "magical" time!

We're just a hop, skip and a jump from there, but still haven't ventured into DW (in 5 years of living in the vicinity)! Downtown Disney has lots of restaurants and shops, and there's an awesome Legoland store there too. They also have an arcade (not sure of the name) where you pay to get in, and play as many of the games as you want. (Might be a good evening activity.) We like a seafood restaurant called Shells. It's "casual" and not nearly as pricey as the "touristy" seafood restaurants, there's one in Kissimmee if you venture that way. Last year we met up with some friends from Illinois at the Shells and then walked around "Olde Town" with the kids, it was a fun evening and they enjoyed the break from the overcrowded-ness of the DW area. (They have a really cool antique carousel there too.) Sorry I'm not more help with the DW aspect of it all!

Oh, and if you want to check out a beach, try Jetty Park (near Cape Canaveral) or New Smyrna (Bethune Beach is south of NS) or Ponce Inlet (there's a lighthouse there). Those places aren't nearly as busy as the "tourist" beaches, unless you want busy and then you'll enjoy Daytona or Cocoa.

The end will justify the pain it took to get us here.

thanks for all the great advice and ideas .. i'll print them out and take them with us.

we tried to get into one of the big resorts .. but they will NOT let FIVE people stay in them .. they are about $250. a night .. and FOUR adults can stay in one room .. but NOT even one extra 4 year old! HOW SILLY! so then we tried to get two rooms at one of the disney hotels .. NO ROOMS LEFT! (we waited t'il the last minute to make reservations!!) we actually lucked out .. got a large suite at the Doubletree Guest Suites right downtown Disney. it looks beautiful on-line. we rented a car .. figured it would cost us just about half that amount just to get back and forth from the airport .. and this gives us lots of options. a shuttle from the hotel takes us to all the theme parks .. runs every half hour. didn't buy our disney tickets on-line because we were told there is a big penalty if you change your mind or if for some reason you have to cancel your reservation. i know we'll pay a little more .. but when we get there .. we will get see what is happening and when .. and buy tickets for all the times and events we wish to see.

got some cute new 'colorful florida gypsy skirts' today .. all i have to do now is to pack my toothbrush!

this trip is really to enjoy our grandson LUCAS as he delights in the magic kingdom .. and we always treasure time spent with our darling daughter and sweet son-in-love!

i actually have several friends in the area that i hope to find some time to get together with! (wednesday's very most favorite 'baby sitter' and her family now live down there ... she became such a good friend .. and i haven't seen her in years .. she will be ecstatic to see Wednesday and her son!)

will write of my adventures of course! xo
