I have dvds and cds. I did get the cds cleaned and arranged last week, so it's dvd time. I think the books could use some work after I finish the dvds, as it will open up the book shelf I need to put the books on!

Jill- here is an idea for your grand daughter's DVD selection Buy a CD organizer, my husband has one that looks like a trapper keeper but has clear CD holders in side. Then have your grand daughter place the DVD's in the order she wants to watch inside the CD Trapper Keeper thing. Then you can have the cases and such back on the shelf and the DVD's are protected in their keeper. Then as she watches them and is done, she can put them back in their cases! :D

You've mirrored me morning announcements 3 times now! You are right in line with the way I am workin through my house. This is so cool.

Sorry I haven't posted a new challenge in a couple days. We had that incident at Nora's daycare and life has been crazy busy pluss a tad depressing since. I am trying to get organized before the mad dash for school starts in September. Eeek.
Just took two garbage bags full of toys from Nora's room to the thrift store. We had triplicates of some things and hadn't really weeded out her toys for a while. I know what she mostly plays with and that stayed but now she has more room for her things. I also am in the middle of rearranging the furniture in the living room which is a great way to have an excuse to clean off every shelf, pull the cushions from the couch for vacuuming, vacuum under things. I basically turned the living room 180 degrees and got the TV in a better location. It is now higher up and less convenient for munchkin to touch it.

I was kinda glad for the break. I have been so busy cookin and freezin from my garden, and from others gardens. I was given a wonderful gift of 4 dozen eggs and they needed turned into breakfast burritos along with a bowl full of peppers, cherry tomatoes, and onions from my garden. I now have a full shelf of ready made meals for grabbin out when I really need them, and breakfast ready for two weeks! I love the food this time of year!

Alee I found it helpful to have three boxes for that little stuff when I am doing big cleaning. "Trash of coarse", "need to keep but where?", and "just not sure". Then when the box gets full I empty just that one box. The "need to keep but where?" box is the biggest challenge to me....but when it is full I try to deal with it!! I was putting things back in drawers but then the drawers needed to be redone. Oh some times the "just not sure" stuff quickly became trash over time:) Barbara

Barbara, what a great tip! I like that idea and think it could work for a whole room organizing as well. I may even try that on my walk through pick up trips. I always wind up with a pile of stuff from all the rooms that just don't seem to fit anywhere and they usually wind back up on a table somewhere to be collected agian another day. The box would let me know if they really need kept or could be tossed based on the amount of dust and other junk piled on top! LOL!

I have been goin through my house daily tryin to make one pile a day disappear. I have had to re-do my junk drawer twice, but it gives me a temporary home for the little stuff till I have enough to justify the walk to the barn where it really goes. I have used the 3 box idea several times to sort whole sections of rooms. It works nicely. I am almost ready to jump into the new room we've begun adding on to the house and deal with it. Right now it is unfinished, but ever since the floor and outside walls and roof were done it has be aquiring lots of stuff. It is so out of control that you can hardly walk through it. I have not allowed anything to be put there since I decided to declutter the house, but it was already a disaster. It will be the last place I start on.

My house is a disaster every other day. One day it is super clean and next week it is in chaos.

Well, moving means that I am going to be starting with a tidy home. I have made a resolution to make sure that I keep it up from the beginning. [This is quite a challenge for someone who uses the "Pile it" instead of "file it" method of keeping paperwork]. Smiles! Carla

Well, I'm already behind, no cabinet wiping yet, no junk drawer yet. I'm just lying around watching tv on and off. My laundry's done but not put away so I'm going to get cracking and as my mother said"blow the stink off".lol |

I have to be gone almost all day tomorrow, so I started my laundry tonight. I have four loads done and ready to hang, but that can wait till mornin. I have the dishes dne and the kitchen wiped down. I'm gonna hop in bed for about 5 hours sleep, then I have to get DH off to work and hang clothes and gather my things for sittin at the hospital with my mom. Dad's finally gettin the corrective surgery for his leg, so I'm there till 5:00 tomorrow night. I'll get a lot of my readin and garden plans for next year done, plus I should have time to make a still room book entry or two. I'll get back on the challenges in ernest tuesday.
Wish someone would invent a washer that could change the loads on it's own! Then I could come home to all the laundry washed and then all I have to do is hang it!
