Hi Marian,

I have a pattern for a 50's costume. It's a McCall's for sizes childrens, girls and misses. If you go to the McCall's site, you will see it there. The pattern is called 'At the hop' The number is 7253 It is a pattern for a 50's dress and the matching petticoat. If you want, let me know and I will get it out to you.
Take care,
hugs
Marcy

Yes, it is. You can add a poodle or a cat or a few other things. It really is cute. And the pattern is not only for the dress, but the petticoat as well. You can also see it on ebay, just type in McCalls 7253 and it should come up.

When I made Poodle Skirts for my girls I just used a soft muslin and made a skirt with a tuell ruffle. It had an elastic waist line and loads of ruffle around the bottom. Very easy. You can make a circle skirt out of the muslin and do a ruffle that is double the circumfrance of the circle. The heavier the netting the stiffer the petticoat. Poodle skirts are fun to make. I never used the felt that they say to use now. I used no-wail cordary or even quilted fabric. I have two poodle skirts that are actually from the 50's that are quilted fabric. They are beautiful. One belonged to my Aunt and one My Mother. Have fun.

I have issues with the year 1955 and love so many things. I have a refrence database of items. I could flip them into pdfs for you and email them to you if you want. They aren't conventional patterns and you have to make them your size, but they all have authentic refrence images
