Ok, "Look Who is Coming to Dinner"
The deer have found my tulips to their liking....I can only hope they will save a few for me! lol!
Ok, so if I can't have real Tulips guess I will settle for these...
I got the idea from a blog in Germany...cute huh! I made this pair for my neighbors across the road. >^..^< Happiness is being a katmom. "I've never met a sewing machine I didn't like!"

well I have to re-cant my thoughts that it might be our "Der"...but I spotted some very small 'calling cards (poo)that I think might be bunny droppings... we have some little pygmy bunnies habitating near the fence. Yep, Kpaints, I am thinking you are right......bunnies, cute lil bunnies.... lol!

Bunnies have done far more damage to my areas than deer. I have yet to be able to grow any beans. Breaks my heart, as they are such an easy crop. But bunnies get them as soon as they are a few inches high. We are enclosing the WHOLE garden..including the top, with deer netting. I figure I have spent close to $500 for these raised beds & as of last year(I have had them going on 3 yrs).. I have only yielded a few tomatoes! Those are some expensive fruits!! But I still love it.

| I'm trying something I read as a deer deterant. Save the small leftover bars of bath soap and place them in the plants. They dont like the smell and the scent revives with the rain. Deodorant soap is what they said to use. |

My favorite thing that a deer ever ate was a plumeria plant. I had purchased it at the Pittsburgh home show and you had to plant it in a pot with soil and sand and then set it outside. It did fairly well, but then one day I looked out and one of the leaves had been chomped off. All my bulbs were eaten to the bases too!

Yup..I just found a few of my spring bulbs eaten this morning too. Those pesky deer! If they weren't so cute with their big eyes and long eyelashes, I'd..I'd..I'd....*holding up fist*
I seriously don't know why I'm even attempting to do a veggie garden. I still don't have a plan for keeping the deer away :(

oh bummer Emily, your poor Plumeria plant....you would think the Deer would be well mannered enough to not eat the plumeria....lol!
so true "LJ",,,those big brown eyes do make it hard to stay angry at them...lol! I am (slowly) learning that anything I want to grow & NOT share w/the Deer I need to put deer netting over! lol! Hmmm, maybe I should buy stock in Deer Netting, I just might get rich or at least re-coup my money for all the plants I have lost to the deer! haha!

The only thing that ever solved that problem for me was really tall fences. Fortunately we fenced the whole parameter of the property with 6 ft. fencing when we had cows and neighbors that didn't watch their toddlers. I didn't want the liability of a kid getting stepped on by a friendly cow. Good luck with the deer issue. I have another neighbor that just runs hot wires around the garden space.
Blessings, Sheri
