Last year was the first year my wisteria bloomed, and there was only 2 blossums. This year there are about 40, buds, partialy open blossums, and fully open blossums. This afernoon, I was sitting on my swing, and I had a herd of hummers, at least 10 of them, all but one were typical ruby throated. There was one that looked like a brand new shiny penny . I ran in and grabed my hummer ID book and its a "Allen" hummer, native and only seen on the Channel Islands, off the coast of California, from Ventura. I live in the High desert, at the LA county and Kern county line, at 3800 ft elevation. The Channel Islands are at least 200 miles from me as the crow flies. I hope he hangs around, he quite the jewel among the green and ruby hummers .
