Hi doll lovers,
We would rescue a used doll from thrift shop or anywhere ya find one.
Rescued dolly gets fixed up...example new hair do, clothes, etc.
Use your talents and give dolly love and and a new home.

Anyone want to do this???

Dolly is a human, not animal or stuffed animal. Contact your partner for more info to agree on. Post pics if ya can or send pics via email to me and I can post them here for you.

yes! I agree!
Give us some suggestions. I am thinking apron, basket for veggies or eggs. A straw hat, overalls.
Dolly could also be knitting with toothpicks. :-)
Good idea Robin!

This sounds Neat-O! I'm not sure if I could sign up for this swap yet. I'll have to give it some more thought. But I think it's a wonderful idea!!

I went to goodwill and did some looking around tongith while the kiddies were at youth group. Pooey no luck on finding a dolly. You know any other time that store would be full of them. Well I take that back, they did have a whole table full of Dora the Explorer dolls. Just not what I was looking for. LOL

Anyhoo... I really do like your idea though. We'd be giving a new life and home to a forgotton, misplaced dolly.

I think that would work...good idea. Any type of rescue or reusable fabric could be used. I'd say some "new" embellishments are ok too. A dolly made out of denim would be cute, and durable.

It may not a "proper" farmgirl attitude, but we all have those days. I have been having alot of those days lately. LOL I'm sure the ones who cross my path wish I had a damit doll. LOL

On another note though... I went to the goodwill again today. Surprise surprise! everyone who knows me thinks that I live there. LOL I found a couple of dolls. And then after we got home, my younger two were cleaning there room and came across a rag doll my mom found awhile back. Her clothes look a little worn. She could use some farmgirling up.

Yeah! You go girl!! Melanie....does this mean you are up for the challenge?? If the dollys are small we could even have 2 partners. :-D :-D

The one I just finished is a doll about 8 inches tall....I knit alot so making clothes was easy for me....use our designing talents.

What do ya think Melanie????

Oh yeah the wheels are turning! Count me in too, Linda! Sometimes I think I like a "free-hand" project a little better than doing one from a parttern.

me too!
Robin, if you want to do this then how about being the partner of the next farmgirl who joins here....make it easy that way.
Then the timeline can be decided between partners....how's that?
Someone else will be here soon.

so yarnmamma/Linda will swap with Melanie47601/Melanie

Ok, I am thinking by Mother's Day is a good mail by deadline. If that needs changed then agree with your partner for a change.
Dolly is human, not animal face or stuffed animal. Handmade dolly made from used clothing is a thrift doll and some might want to do that
....but for me I'd prefer an old plastic dolly formerly loved by a little girl.

Handmake clothing or more. Please don't purchase a new outfit for an old Barbie because that wouldn't count! :-)
Accessories could be purchased...like a purse or basket or flower to hold, shoes, etc.

Cool! come join us! I love making dolly clothes!!
Let's watch for the next farmgirl to sign up....
in the meantime does anyone know of internet sites with FREE or cheap doll clothes patterns? I think there could be some youtube videos too.
I usually knit and try on the doll while making it so I don't use patterns....but I have some somewhere if needed.
Any ideas or suggestions on how to fit a doll with a questionable size without buying an expensive pattern? I have wrapped a pattern around a doll body and added some for the seams....sometimes it's too small or too big but it could work with enough practice. :-D

OK now I picked out 2 videos that I might use.
These are for American Girl dolls, but I have easily got some knock-offs that look the same...girl dolls 18 inch..these are designed like a little girl...flat chest but walking-not a baby.
The gathered with elastic dress could fit any doll as blouse or dress...I have never used elastic thread....so I learned.
:-)
then there is a painting the face video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WERb5QzzfRA&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNyP9oqMCZU&feature=related

as we see, ANY doll could use this paint.

that's enough for now. Did anyone enjoy these?

I found one yesterday about re-rooting barbie doll hair. I forgot to book mark the page though. :( That was really cool and the autor made it look really easy.

I would like to join. Around here, you find the best dolls at yard sales, but usually the hair is messed up. Maybe do the best you can or make a bonnet?
