Gena, I'm taking a moment to pause and take a deep breath. Blessings upon your entire family. If you scroll down this Family Matters section, please read Aria's Rainbow. I'd be so honored to tie a colored thread for you and your dad. Let me know if this is something you'd like to do...

In peace, ~julia hayes

Gena, so sorry for your loss. It was wonderful that you have taken your parents into your home. He is in a wonderful place now and is in peace. My prayers out to you and your family.

Gena-
My heart goes out to you! I lost my beloved grandfather in mid January to cancer. He was about to turn 99 in May, so Lord knows he lived more than his share of a good long life, but I know what you mean that not being able to actually talk to them again hurts. I am now going through Lung cancer with my dad. Sometimes life just doesnt seem fair, but know that your farmgirl sisters and friends are always "there" for you!
I will keep you and your family in my prayers!
Blessings,
Laurie-

So sorry Sweetie. My Dad died young 39 years ago and it still seems like yesterday. Yes, he is in a wonderful place, that gives us some peace. But no matter how old our parents get to be we are never ready to give them up. My Mom is 83 and her health is not so good, but I am thankful we still have her.
Will keep you and your family in my prayers in the days to come.
God Bless.

Is it getting easier with time? My dad passed in Jan. and I do think it gets easier. Memorial day was hard because he is buried 6 hrs from here and I couldnt decorate his grave but I hope you could do your dads. Take care.

I did decorate his grave. In fact, I got alot of satisfation from it. I put red and white roses and put an Ameriacan flag in with the flowers. Mom still hasn't gone to look at it yet. It is hard to get her out.
You are right about getting easier. I don't dwell as much on it. There are little things that I see or hear, that reminds me of him.

Thinking of my dad today. He would have been 89 today. He died on the day after Christmas in 2003. I am not really sad but just thinking of him. If he had not died then, we probably would have soon had to put him in a nursing home. Caring for him was taking a toll on Mom.

Sorry for your loss. You will miss him forever as I do my parents. Eventually the pain will turn to peace and all the good memories will prevail. God Bless, Darlene
