Day before yesterday my husband, son and I finished tilling up the garden and yesterday evening I put in my onion sets.

It feels so good to be out in the garden again after the long, snowy winter that we had. My son doesn't quite "get" how excited I get about the smell of freshly turned soil. I think that he thought I had lost it because I kept picking up the dirt and sniffing it and saying how much I liked the smell. I even made him smell it!

We are supposed to have rain for the next few days, perfect for those onions!

Anyone else getting their hands dirty yet?

Blessings
Linda

It is still a wee bit early for planting much here but last weekend my husband and I made soil blocks so I can start planting seeds here soon. I did not even realize it until he said "you do not seem as excited as I thought you would be playing the dirt for the first time this year". It clicked in my brain and I did the happy dance. I love spring dirt and I hope our 'Mud Season' is not too long.

I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.

Linda, ya'll have had lots of snow this winter. That's good that you got them in the ground. But I am jealous! I bought 2 lbs. the other day and started some heirloom purple onions in the house. I see some starting to poke through. But we are rainy here throught the weekend. It will be awhile before our gardens get plowed here. But that day will come! I did transplant some strawberries into an 8x4 raised bed. I have a few hundred more to go. I also have spinach and lettuce in a cold frame growing good. have fun out there! I love the smell of dirt, too.
