Well, that clears up a few questions for me! I was beginning to get confused!!! (Folks that know me know that's easily done though! LOL)
As an artist, even if nothing ever comes my way, I had so much fun making my first one, it's worth it. I took a picture of it (as I do most things I create that I don't keep) so I could remember it and will probably end up sticking the photo in an art journal somewhere down the road!!

For clarification purposes I got am email from CJ this morning. I do not log onto the forums alot and was not aware that there was an issue with the mail art I sent till today. I have only been participating in the mail art swap for 3 months now and was not aware that we could not recycle things. I am a avid recycler and will always recycle things before I would throw them away. I recycled and changed the mail art I got this month and sent it on to Sandi so that she would not miss a card this month. I do not see this as stealing something, but can see how some people would. I Thought it would be better to get something than nothing but obviously I was wrong.
This month has been the most incredibly hard one for me that I can remember with deaths, court cases, and all the other things that tend to bring you down on a daily basis.
So to Monica Hayden and Sandi Stanley I am sorry that I recycled the mail art that I sent this month. I will not be participating in the mail art awap anymore. My most sincere apologies. Sometimes everyone makes a mistake for we are all just human. |

Several things: (1) I received my mail art from Kristin from Chickamauga GA last night. Thank you! It is a beautiful card with flowers that have buttons for petals. Even the envelope was decorated. Here is the photo: . Thanks Kristin! (2) I have to say I was overwhelmed for the spirit of support and camaraderie I felt yesterday as a result of the misdirected mailart issue; you gals truly circled the wagons around me, and I appreciated it very much. (3) To Kristen from Dahlonega: I'm sorry this happened, and I can understand how you may have felt you were doing the right thing. Please do not feel that you have to quit on my account. It's water under the bridge; I want to say "I forgive you," but I don't think there's anything to forgive; I now realize it was an honest mistake on your part, one that any one of us could've made. So I ask you (as I heard from many of the farm gals on this forum yesterday): please stay, and give it another chance.
Regards to all,
MONICA

Monica, I am so glad it made it to you all in one piece. I was hoping the buttons wouldn't all fall off. I have lost my hot glue gun so had to use regular glue. And to see something I have done on here is weird! And it always looks a little childish to me. But I have fun doing it and it gets me doing things I wouldn't normally do.
Kristen, I am a recycler also. I will reuse anything I can. I cannot throw things away at all. It's getting pretty bad. Almost like our grandparents did. I have no idea why but I do. So I can understand Kristen's point a little. Although I want to keep ALL my mail art forever. I too hope you will stay. Sometimes things get hectic and life happens. I am so sorry you have been having so many hard things happening in your life lately. It really helps to have farmgirl support. We are always here for anyone who needs a little uplifting and prayer and encouragement. So please don't let this be the reason you leave. You haven't been here long enough to leave yet.

Dear Kristen, I totally can see how this was a total misunderstanding, and that you were recycling pieces. I'm a big recycler of products also, one of my peices, I made from recycled wrapping paper. I think for alot of the mail artists they keep each piece of mail-art and for those making it, sometimes they spend many hours and several $$ are put into their work. So, they were surprised that someone would disassemled a masterpiece and use it in another. I think it should be clarified. I know several people don't keep anything and they don't even understand the mail-art thing... Having mentioned all that....It is water under the bridge, my heart went out to all of you involved yesterday. I couldn't stop thinking about all the emotions and peoples feelings that were being affected by this whole misunderstanding! It made me want to cry and give hugs to all of you! I could totally see before you even mentioned it that you were just reusing and regifting which many people do. I remember the first mail-art I sent out, I spent hours and several $$$ on, and the farmgirl thought I was just sending her art supplies...I was almost crushed because it was alot of work, she didn't realize that was the art peice itself...but you know what, I thought about and laughed, and said...it is what it is: art is in the eye of the beholder..and if she thought I was just sending her a bunch of art supplies..then so be it...she probably needed them...the next month, I changed my art style...LOL!!! Please don't quit, I know you really want to I'm sure, but if you want to participate please stay in it! We are farmgirls, we know how to shake the dirt off and keep going!!! We know that when things get tough, the tough get going!!! Don't let some glue, paper, art doodles, etc...get in the way of something you were enjoying! Oh,and by the way, I"m sorry you had such a harried month....I'm sorry for the things you've had to deal with and bring them to the "virtual porch" (a farm of my own) ..it's a great place to get loved on! We sit for hours on there and share recipes, stories, tears, laughter, hugs...so come on by!!! Now, don't you quit! You just go out and get the glue and make another masterpiece...put a pencil to paper, or paint, or glue, or whatever you want...create!!! It's life to the soul! It's part of who we are!!! Forgiveness is a beautiful thing.........and we all love you!!! |

I too received an adorable mailart yesterday in the mailbox! it was a cute international map background(which I love recycled maps, more than you could know)and it had a little pocket on the side that said" Life's 101..lesson.#2 Risk, and then you pull out the little card with the cute poem on Risking, which I'm going to share here, as it fits all of us: Risking To Laugh is to risk appearing the fool. To weep is to risk appearing sentimental to reach out for another is to risk involvement, To expose your feelings is to risk exposing your true self. To place your ideas, your dreams before a crowd is to risk. To love is to risk not being loved in return. To live is to risk dying. To hope is to risk despair. To try is to risk failurel But Risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing at all. The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, and is nothing. They may avoid suffering and sorrow but they cannot learn, fell, change, grow, love, livel Chained by their certiftudes, they are a slave. They have forefeited their freedom. Only a person who risks is free.
Isn't that beautiful? the colors on this little piece of artwork is beautiful pinks, blues, purples, there's a beautiful xerces blue butterfly, extinct in 1941 on the front...and in one of the little pockets theres a little bird flying...isn't that so sweet??? Oh, I almost forgot..the cute little key also that was tied with a pretty blue ribbon! I love it!! Soon as I get another camera chip I'll catch up with my mail art showing!!! maybe I'll get one this weekend...it's precious, I have to show you! I forgot to tell you who sent this lovely little piece to me: C. Garnes from Loveland,Co. And she decorated the envelope with a fun butterfly and flower!!! Love that! Thank you so much!!! |

I'm hopeful that the recent misunderstanding is now in the past. When I decided to move from bystander to involved in this forum, I was really excited that I'd found an area where people could get along and just enjoy art for the sake of art.
Almost blew my hopes, but I do believe that the "farmgirls" have pulled together and moved on. Everyone concerned has had such a loving spirit. AND, I DO like the fact that when there is a problem it is tackled immediately and not allowed to fester. Smart!!
Kristen-so sorry for all you've recently gone through. From what I've seen on most of these forums on MJF, this is a caring bunch and some great gals to be around. That's why I did decide to get involved instead of just watching from the sidelines.
Hope everyone involved stays involved!!
Blessings to all- Sherry

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. This morning I can honestly say that I cried. I love all the mail art that I have gotten. I even framed one :) This month has just been so hard that I didn't have the time to make a 100% complete original piece so I did what I thought was the next best thing and recycled one. I am truly sorry that I offeneded anyone or caused such a ordeal. It was not my intention at all.
I am an artist, I paint and do wheel thrown pottery in my little spare time I have and I understand that art is special to everyone. So to Monica I am sorry if I made you feel like your art was not special to me. Because it was. If you will send me you address I will send you a special "I'm sorry" package that is 100% from me. My email is Kristencaldwell@bellsouth.net. Sandi, I still have your address and will be making you another mail art today so hopefully you will get it next week that is 100% from me along with a "I'm Sorry" gift.
Thanks for everyone understanding. Again I am VERY sorry. I hope to continue to do the mail art because I really do love it. :) I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Wow! Two mail art pieces in one month - who could complain about that? I am impressed with the quality of art (and people) in this group, and hope we can continue doing this for a long time. I am glad that you decided to stay in Kristin, and I look forward to receiving your art. Have a great day...

Oh, forgot to say...I loved the Button Flower Art. It did NOT look childish Kris, It looked adorable and simply as sweet as "Friendship" can be. I like to decorate my envelopes too, usually just with stickers though. I am usually pooped after completing my mail-art! LOL

My Dear Mail Art-ist Friends,
I don't want to perseverate on the mail art issue, I just want to say this. "RECYCLING" is not the issue!!! Recycle away . . we are champions at that!!! Recycling/resending mail art pieces from another one of mail artsts is the issue!! 'Nuff said and the matter rests!!
KRISTEN: I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO very glad you are staying in Mail Art!! It isn't really a "horrible" mistake and I'm glad you will still participate. Thank you for your honesty!!
TO ALL THE REST: THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! . . for caring, encouraging, supporting and demonstrating what this is REALLY all about . . . the FARMGIRL HEART!!!!
Today is August 20th and you should be receiving your mail art for August. Remember, we LOVE to see pictures!!!! And, if you have NOT received your mail art by the time your mail comes on Wednesday, August 25th, please let me know.
AGAIN . . THANK YOU ALL!!! CJ . . your Coordinator/Organizer

Thinking we all could use a nice big group hug!!! HUGS to all...And a nice cup of tea...and a "gentle" smile. Did I leave anything out? Oh yea, may your weekend be filled with tender mercys, & a whole lot of grace. Being human can be so darn hard at times... just when I think I learned a valuable lesson.... another one comes along & says, guess what? Here's another "HARD" one for ya! Have at it!!! Ok, so I must confess, I can be a slow learner. Good thing "HE" loves me. How about you? I try to remember the hardest one for me to remember, & that is: That I am "VALUED"! Am loved, & I am only human. Like quoted before mentioned : WE all fall down,& we all get back up & keep on a going as best we can. And if you need help getting back up... we are here... take our hand... take our gentle smile... our hugs... & love. Lord knows life happens when your not looking. Even when you are, can get pretty tough on ya! So don't be to hard on yourselves. You are LOVED! |

I just want to say that whoever gets my name in the future, if you are able to post pictures of what you have made, please take a picture before you send it to me because I cannot for the life of me figure out Photobucket. I know several people have tried to help, but it just ain't happenin'! Because I love to see all the pictures and it's so fun to see your own "up on the big screen" it might be a good idea to take a pic then post it for me. That would be great.
And I am SO glad this is all straightened out. And I really admire Kristen for staying and for all her honesty. And for the poem, Monica. And just for everyone being so nice and farmgirly. I just love it here.
Kristen, do you have a website for your pottery and art? I love pottery and would love to see your work if it's possible. You aren't that far away from me. Maybe I could even go there and see it one day.

To Kristen in Dahlonega, I am just tickled that you are staying in mailart!! Stuff happens to us all and things get crazy sometimes. Just keep doing your art. I too, would love to know if you have your art work online anywhere for us to see. I am always fascinated to see the creativity of the Farmgirls. I love Dahlonega. I spent many summers there as a child and lots of other visits to my family as an adult. Knew the town well but it has probably changed alot since the last time I was there. I hope things will be getting better for you this month. Sounds like you have had a lot on you lately. Just remember that Farmgirl Sisters do care and are always ready to give support. Many blessings and hugs, Farmgirl Sister Gail #61 |

First picture is of the fronts of these projects.
