I have a 5 1/2 month old black lab that last month gained 18lbs...Yess...in one month. He is at 62 pounds now and I was just wondering how much longer to expect him to grow. Will he just fill out now or will he continue to gain height?

He is still growing! Depending on his parents he should end up weighing between 90 and 110 lbs. Also keep in mind that his puppy mentality he has now, he will not outgrow until he is about 3-4 years old. Labs are great you just have to have patience and nothing of value on your coffee tables because their tails will wipe everything out!

And don't feel too bad - I can't keep anything of value on my coffee table, kitchen table or kitchen counter, and my dog is an 8 1/2 year old Bassett Hound - old enough to know better and, you would think, too short to do any damage. If I'd only known....

Puppy mentailty for sure!I have always raised Blue Heelers...What a difference in personality! He is so much fun though. My sons are both grown and live in different states so after both of the old heelers i had for years passing last summer I decided to get a lab. Everything is a game to him and he loves me to death. He thinks he needs to live in the gardentub in my master bath and lord forbid if I try to shower without him!

Rea, I have a 3 year old Yellow lab, Bubba. He was very sick the summer I got him and had to be in the "hospital" for a week. He was only about 45 pounds then. So he never did get all the lab weight he should have. I think he is alergic to heat, poor dog. It was really hot that summer and he just couldn't handle it. He's still that way. He's probably about 75 pounds now. I had him neutered at about a year old, too. Hoping it would calm him down. Not! He's still a mess and all over the place. He never really chewed stuff up though. And he does not like water. Like bath water. But will jump in the nasty pond outback every time we go out there! Silly dog.

I love labs. They are the best. Yours will be a great companian and great friend for years to come. Enjoy him.

Kris
