February is always a teaser month here in Western WA. We have had day temps up to 60 degrees, with freezing temps over night. March will come and we will get more rainy, grey weather. But in the meantime, I have Daffodils, violets, heirloom primroses, and of course my Hellebores blooming. I heard spring peepers over the weekend, spring is coming!!!

For tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, but keep me, guide me, love me, Lord just for today.

I hear you Nicole, today was warm (40s) and the snow moves in tonight. BUT my horse is already starting to shed his winter coat, the cardinals are lilting and I saw a bluebird yesterday!

I know we've had one tough winter when a 35 degree sunny day FEELS like spring!

I'm ready to throw back the covers and take off the sock and dance out in the street. We have beautiful clear blue skies and it's suppose to be close to 50 here today. Yeepeeeeee!

I saw how many Washington girls we have who have commented. Buttercups, tulips, birds and skunks are welcome here to us in Washington this year. I feel sorry for you to our East who have all that snow. That was our plight last year..with around 9 ft. accumulative here in Deer Park. You will get rid of the snow, & Spring will come. My problem is to decide whether Spring is really here, or if I might be fooled with a big dump of snow. Just hesitating!

I also have a handful of tulips working their way up. Now I really have to get a fence around my flower beds to keep the chickens out so I can actually have flowers this year! We are getting warmer, but it's our annual "spring fake-out". I'm sure I'll wake up to some more white stuff before too long. I'm enjoying the niceness while it's here!

Here in central Utah, the tulips are about 1/2 to 1 inch out of the ground, and I think I saw little larkspur leaves fanning out over the top of the soil, too!

There are now robins all over the place. When I think of robins, aside from thinking of spring, I think of the "example sentence" that one of my high school teachers used for the word, "harbinger." "The robin is the harbinger of spring." (Isn't it odd what memories seem to "stick" in your head sometimes? I can remember this sentence, but sometimes I can't even remember where I set my glasses down...)

It's true!!! It's true!!! Spring is on the way all over the place!

Okay, so there's supposed to be another storm heading in here on Thursday, but I'm still hopeful!).

XOXO, Libbie

My big pink tulips are a couple of inches out of the ground already. The robins are going crazy out there singing their little heart's out. And this morning I smelled skunk on the breeze! WOO-HOOO! Spring!
...Of course we still could get a bunch of snow, but I'm crossing my fingers

The sun was finally shining today, the weather man says it could be near 60 this weekend. I know that is only an educatucated guess but I so hope he is right. I have the "dig in the garden" itch sooo bad. Spring can not come any too soon for me. I did see soft new buds beginning to swell on the Oakleaf hydrangea today.

My daffys have flowers on them now!!!! My new lilac has tons of buds on it, the peony and bleeding heart are about an inch out of the ground, and the early tulips are getting tall too. I love spring on the Palouse!

It's like a ping pong game here in the Northeast...spring like weather one day, wintery the next, then back to spring. At least the wildlife knows spring is almost here! Dianne

Its so nice to come here and read all the beautiful signs of spring. I heard the happiest bird chirping away this morning when I let the dogs out. It has been warming up here, daytime highs in the 40s (which in MN means no coat!!) but we are supposed to get ice and snow this weekend again. Grr! Oh well, the boys are enjoying all the muddy slushy mess that's left as the seasons decide what they are finally going to do.

I am doing the happy dance! The snow is melting away (slowly, no chance of flooding) and the birds are singing in the bare trees. I can hear them right now as I write this. It is going to get into the forties today and fifties next week...spring is springing! Yay!!!

I'm off to harvest nettles with a couple of my apprentices today. They'll (the nettles, not the gals!) will go right into the dehydrator. They dug up dandelion roots for 2 days while I made soap. We're about to plant the herb garden as buds are breaking all over! We tasted wild plum leaves on Tuesday along with wild mustard, saxifrage, licorice fern, fresh nettles, wild lettuce...the list goes on. In the Pacific Northwest, spring comes early, but this year.....it's come even earlier! No complaints here!

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade. ~Charles Dickens

My best friend just sent this to me. It SO PERFECTLY sums up the kind of day we are having on the Palouse!

I saw a dead skunk in the middle of the road today. It wasn't pretty but is a sure sign of spring around here.

It's the little things in life that make it worth while, like snowdrops blooming and even the smell of skunks.

I've got to share a tidbit with you. Years ago and in the middle of the night, I awoke to the smell of skunk,
now being the kind of sharin gal that I am, I poked hubby and said "can you smell that skunk? In a less than cheerful
reply he said, " well not until you woke me up".

LULU

Take care and write soon.
