I've put a post on my blog about my two treasures from my Grandmas. I think you all will like em!

They certainly are treasures. It is so great to have personal things to cherish. The afgan is so colorful and pretty even if it wasn't hand made by someone you love!

The churn is great. It may be far more valuable to you in use than as a "collectable", would you ever want to sell it anyway?

I don't really know what that stuff is you are thinking of using but first check if it might be toxic and would actually touch the cream inside. Maybe there would be some other way to mend it for use. Maybe using plastic wrap under the lid if its tight enough to hold, or is the lid the same size as a large canning jar lid, and you could just put a hole through for the working parts?
Enjoy your treasures!

Thankx Susan. The JB Weld is a superglue like substance for metal. The crack is around the edge of the lid, so it wouldn't come in contact with the cream. I will most likely just leave it as is and be extra careful when using it. And I do plan to use it. :) After a thorough cleaning.
