What are you doing that's special for Valentine's day?? I think I will clean the house for mom and dad and cook dinner for my family. Maybe bake a cake or something like that. How about you?

There is a little Tea Room in a town near us that is planning a brunch, so hubby and I are going there. We decided a few years ago not to do much for Valentines Day, and I am getting ready to go make him a card. I think the brunch will be nice.Carol

We don't do much of anything usually, by choice. Maybe go out for dinner sometime.

I have to work Valentines night, a young coworker wants to take his wife out. I am trading shifts. After this year I will be retired, so we will have plenty more Valentines to celebrate. Monday I am making a big pot of split pea soup and homemade bread.

I think my husband and I have to go on a local radio show to promote our band's upcoming shows. Isn't THAT romantic? ;)

Speaking of romantic, we might also go to a big local pawn shop to see about selling our wedding rings for cash. No, we're not breaking up. But we both found the rings uncomfortable and stopped wearing them after a couple of years. It would be nice to get some money back and find another set that we like better.

And if selling the wedding rings isn't enough of a V-day celebration, my husband offered to take me to the hockey game Friday night! Cuz nothing says "love" like watching big guys slam each other into the walls. Seriously, this would be very sweet of him. I try to drag my non-sporting husband to at least one game each year and the season is half over.

My dh asked me what I wanted for V-day and I told him I wanted a clean car. So he is taking my suburban to work and pulling it into the heated shop and cleaning it inside and out. It has seemed like a long winter of kids dragging snow, salt and mud into my car so it is due for a good detailing. Nothing screams romance like ArmorAll!!! I think on Sunday I will fix his favorite meal of pork cutlets with mashed potatoes and gravy.

Our church has an annual Salmon BBQ to support a "Family Promise" (housing for the homeless) And as the cellist in the church strings ensemble, I will be playing in that. It is a nice gig and it raises approximately 3K for the homeless here in the area.

As many of you know, I lost my DH just a little over 3 mos. ago, the other day I was dreading Valentines Day coming up.....you know, nobody to "do", or "make things special for", and today the guys from down the street (yes they are....), called and invited me to go to dinner with them. My heart almost burst it made me feel so good!!! I'm really looking forward to it, they are great guys and lots of fun to be with.

I will be spending the weekend with my eldest daughter, her hubby and my precious grandson. He is my Valentine!

For tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, but keep me, guide me, love me, Lord just for today.

Suzie, that's a wonderful way to spend Valentines Day!!! Have fun, enjoy yourself--you know your dh would want that more than anything.

Me? I'm spending the day indulging my husband by first: sewing this WWII era airborne patch on his "Fine Scale Military Modeller's Association" club shirt, then, the little one and I will accompany him to his FSMMA meeting (2 hours worth) and then we go to dinner. The only gift he wants is that I pay his club dues of $20.00....so (despite having to actually sit through the meeting) I'm getting off pretty easy :) And, it obviously makes him very happy!

You are a good woman Jonni!
We are going to a church dinner sponsored by the youth, & for some reason, this year, Jim has bought me something special. He is so excited he can barely stand it. He even sent me an email last night(yes we are in the same house), that said, "I can't wait until Sunday; I have never gotten you something like this for Valentine's Day"...I am trying to think like him, & am guessing that it is something with the Texas Longhorns on it, but I do have to admit that it has peaked my interest. He usually ALWAYS comes home with roses, so this will be a welcome new surprise.(although I love roses to)
Suzie, I had no idea about your husband. Those guys will SURELY show you a good time. Enjoy!

Good Morning gals,

I'll be turning the big 50 on Valentine's Day! And what a present I got! 2 Blizzards and maybe more next week. But everyone is healthy and safe. We never lost power, the roof is holding and snow is melting. Probably will just have a quiet day which is O.K. with me after all this snow excitement.

Blessings,
Bonnie

well we just talked about a few minutes ago! and since I do nothing but home cooking over here with lots of the works, I asked if we could have fancy ordevours (sp?) for dinner. We decided to get little bits of a few fancy cheeses and meats from a local market that specializes in these things and I'm making brushetta on home made sour dough and we'll have an artichoke with garlic butter sauce and then for dessert I'm making a lemon/lime pudding pie with home made cream.

however, upon writing this out, it sure seems like a lot of work for a 'low maintenance' meal! but it's a whole lot different than our usuals :) and, since we have two very wee ones, once they go to bed we'll watch a movie... I'm not sure which one though... maybe I can convince him to finally watch paint your wagon with me, anyone seen that one I haven't seen it in forever but I reember it being a hoot!
