I have a vintage hard sided suitcase (like an old samsonite) that I'd like to use for something other than storage. Any crafty ideas?

Check out my blog spot under the "hand quilted vintage double ring" post.

On the very left of the photo you will see what I did with a couple of antique hard sided suitcases. My DH opened the suitcase and screwed it into the four legs of an old piano bench...then I simply placed another old suitcase on top of that one---then placed a lamp on that! The very bottom suitcase holds some very special memorabilia---it's a good place for storage!

I am always on the look out for old suitcases and in fact just picked up a medium size leather very round edged vintage one at the thrift store last Saturday for only $3.95!

Cute idea about the bench. I'll have to scout around for parts.

Grace, I noticed on your blog that you work jigsaw puzzles. I have one I'm going to start (newbie, can you believe it, never done one) and I want to make it so I can pick it up and move it, without going out and buying a puzzle mat. Any suggestions? Yes, I hijacked my own thread. :-)

hahaha! I use a foam board, light weight & I can pick it up & move it...the only bad thing is when you have a curious kitty who jumps up on to it & pieces go flying all over! lol!
You can put a piece of felt fabric on the foam board to keep the pieces from moving around if you want.
Have fun.....oh & we mark off the masurement of the puzzle onto the board in case the board gets bummped & the pieces move.
Happy Puzzeling.
