Does anyone have a good recipe for facial cleanser? I'm a soap and water gal but as I am getting older find that my face drys out too much. I don't want to use cleansers with stuff I can't pronounce in them. Any ideas?

Check out the spring issue of The Herb Quarterly--I just made a scrub using sea salt, essential oils, and olive oil, and my skin feel so much better. There are other recipes for other skincare products in this issue. I can't wait to try making a facial cleanser using boiled lettuce! cindy

I use 1 cup of yogurt, 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil and 1/4 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar mixed together. I keep it in a bowl/w a lid in the fridge & it lasts about a week. It really makes my skin silky smooth. '

I just massage it in my skin for about a minute & then rinse with warm, not hot, water.

I have always had really good skin-no pimples except "once" a month when I was a young lady. My mother's skin is flawless and she is in her 70's and you know ladies---I have never used soap on my face---I have always used just a hot wash cloth every morning or during the day. Lately though I have noticed very fine lines on my forehead---too much scrunching---kids will make you do that! So, I use just a smidge of my hand made whipped shea butter at night and then blot it gently. That's it for my moisturizer.
I think sometimes it's just in the genes how well your skin does as you get older....

Here's a brown sugar scrub I found on Chickens In The Road blog.
2 cups brown sugar 1/2 cup olive oil 1/4 cup honey 1 tsp. vanilla
Mix all together and put in a pint jar. Use about twice a week. You can leave on at least 15 minutes before washing off.

I cleanse with oil. I mix 3 T olive oil with 1 T castor oil and rub it on. Then I steam my face with a hot washcloth, and then wipe away the rest of the oil. Splash with cold water, and then moisturize! I have been very pleased with this routine.
