Hi Mary Jane and other ladies,
I love to cook. As a diabetic, however, I am having to be more aware of the carbohydrate count of foods and servings. You see it is not the sugar that is the problem - it is the CARBS that turn into sugar that are the problems. If it is complex carbohydrate that gets into the blood-stream slowly, it is not as bad as the simple ones that spike our blood sugar and then drop it. So is there some way we could get the carb counts? I know farmers never cared about these things, however, modern farmgirls living in these times need to know to take care of their health and the health of her loved ones.
Thanks for thinking about this, Kim (aka missgive)![](icons/icon_smile_cool.gif)

kim, Thanks for bringing this up! All of the recipes in MJ's forum and magazines look sooo good but as a diabetic, I cannot just cook all of that without knowing carbs either. Isn't it funny how sugar doesn't really bother (some of us)our blood sugar but bread and similar type items do? My doctor has told me from day one of being diagnosed this mantra "bread is dessert!". But also if we switched to whole grains that it helps to keep the blood sugar down. Anwy, I am rambling now....I just agree that carb counts would help a lot! janiee farmgirl #390 |

This was posted on another thread. This might solve your problem. You put in the recipe with the number of servings and it gives you back the nutritional info.
