...lizards were freezing and falling out of trees? My neighbor just got back from Florida and she swears that iguanas were falling out of the trees, frozen. I hope it didn't hurt the citrus crop too badly. Just how cold did it get?

I was listening to NPR this morning and I'm really feeling for our Florida Farmgirl sisters (and everyone else)! They were saying that the very cold, sustained temperatures have not only hurt this crop, but have permanantly damaged the citrus trees! Row crops have also taken a huge hit.
Sending sunshine your way and hope you all warm up soon!!!

I just read an article about that, apparently the woods and bike paths are littered with these iguanas, evidently just in suspended animation, when it warms up again they apparently come back to life!

I tried to make good with the cold. I went "hunting" and found venomous snakes around the barn! They won't be hurting anyone this spring and summer.

I imagine that the cold and freezing temps will be good for getting rid of flea and mosquito eggs? That would be nice if all you floridians did not have to deal with that this year!
That's sad about the citrus trees though.

I think it is true that the lizards will be ok. When they get to cold they sort of shut down until it warms up.

I dont know about the iquanas or lizards freezing...but our crops were really hit hard. Oranges and strawberries. They are still assesing the damages but I know orange juice prices will probably increase along with strawberries.
