| Has anyone ever made a braided rug out of Polar Fleece? I was at the Malden Mills outlet store, and there were all these great colored scrap pieces, and all I could think about was they would make a great braided rug. |

It sounds like a really neat idea. I made a braided rug for our bedroom out of stretch velvet. Pure luxury under bare feet. But, I've not tried fleece. I'd love to know how it turns out if you decide to try it.

Sounds interesting but I prefer wool because it repeals dirt. I have polar fleece blankets in my house they do not repeal dirt and they attractit and have alot of static which is bbd at my house with 4 femals with middle back to waist length hair. It is just a hair ball magnet to. I think it might be fine to do for a little babys room next to a crib in the same colors as the bedding. I bet it would be real soft that is a plus. Also it does not ravel so it does have some pluses to either way it will be lovely in wool or in fleece. Just make sure you take the time and be patent any thing worth doing by hand is worth doing well or you have wasted your time and your materials.

and I wouldn't put it on a wood or other hard floor..I bet it would slide like crazy!!! but on carpet it would be nice. A babies room is a great idea....where it wouldn't get the traffic my gang puts on my rugs!!

if you put this on a hard surface wood tile and the like. i would put a none skid floor pad ( rug pad) below it to keep it stable and to keep you from landing on your tail.

See, that is why I love this sight and this group. All the things you mentioned I never thought of.So I would have spent tons of time and money making this polar fleece rug, took on step onto it and probably maimed or killed myself!!

well I hope all is well and you do have fun making some sort of rug I Have 8 hand made rugs in my house with a few more I am currently making. It is always fun just to sit down and look at a rug you made and think did I really make that I must be a little crazy ( mine crazy one is a braided rug that is 12 feet by 19 feet all wool in my front room) It was sort of a contest I made mine 1 inch bigger than the biggest rug my aunts ever made just thank you for all the wool and look what I did all by myself. Because when my aunts made theirs in california in the 40-50's they had 4 people working on each rug where as I just had me.

| Just found a long wool skirt for $1 at the thrift store. I'm planning to felt it and hook or crochet a rug. I'm sure I'll need more so I'll keep looking...But I LOVE the idea of a velvet rug, too! What a great idea, Lucinda! Uh oh, now I'll be looking for velvet, too. Poor DH! He already thinks I'm a bit daft! Did you try non-stretch velvet and like the stretch better? Or is that what you happened to have? |

I want to learn how to hook rugs from recycled wool. Where do I start? I can find the wool no problem, but the how to I need to know

i have several polar fleece blankets around my house. i also have 4 cats and 2 dogs in the house. Some how all the hair that they shed ends up stuck to the polar fleece blankets!
