Rumor has it that a high % of garages dont actually have a vehicle in it. Maybe I am just trying to make myself feel better that even though I might clean out mine and park my van in it for a short time it eventually gets filled back up with STUFF. I might even be brave enough to post a pic of mine (when I figure posting pics out)

3 cars and enough stuff to furnish another house. The garage is not my domaine so what ever he can cram in it is his problem He just has to leave enough room for my car to get in and out and I can get in it and out of it with no problem. My other half has never really thought about getting rid of anything. (I do it for him)

Right in the very middle od ours is Truckin' Man's prized possesion and biggest toy. A Harley. And on either side are shelves and 2 huge freezers. He has to move the Harley out to get to the back where his tool bench is.

WE actually have 2 garages (one small attached one...where we store wood and the dogs can get in there to get inside during the day if they are outside) and a big one not attached to the house that doesn't ever have a vehicle in it either..right now, besides tools and our big upright freezer it has all the roofing for our house (roofing to be done in spring but we bought the supplies when we had the $) and several projects worth of stuff too. Never a car..haha

My truck, My DH motorcycle, my friends Jet Ski, my DH's 66 car that he loves( I think it's a 66 Caprice) all my tools, snowblower, tables, grabage cans, little stove I will never use but I love it. 3 bikes, gas cans, all my pictures I love but don't want in the house so I hung them in the garage. My neighbors drapes, she was tossing them out and I thought they looked nice so they are also hanging around the window. When I built it my mom said just get a 1 car garage or it will be filled with junk. I built a 2&1/2 car size and I still love it.

We have the antique John Deere tractor inherited from my dad, lots of bikes, coolers & those portable folding chairs; his gun cabinet (no guns) tool boxes....it's pretty narrow though, I think I would be afraid to try to pull in & out!

Kayce: My garage is an open one. My car is NOT in the garage only because my outside cats need the space more than my car does. I have make shift tents built for the cats to get out of the rain, cold, etc... I think it is a most beautiful sight! LOL Marly

well hmm. I think the statistic for farmgirls may be alittle off. Sounds like most do have pretty orgainized garages. Mine is once again used as a storage shed. I have 2 dinning tables waiting to be painted. shelves of flea market finds to be repurposed or upcycled. Cabinet full of old clothes for project, pass-me-downs. xtra fridge, full size non-working freezer, half size working freezer not plugged in. Sports equip, coolers, camping gear and chairs, scuba gear, 2 quads and more and more. So far I am not brave enough to post a pic of my messy pack rat storage place aka garage Thanks to all that responded I enjoyed reading all the posts. |

..garage? What is that? A new fanagle thingy? ...heeheeheee, actually, we do not have one but we once had a carport that I insisted that it become a closed in screened porch. What a beauty it is! Great for enjoying lemon aid and bug free environment!

Thanks, Bonnie. I love my furry children. If I had it my way, they would all be in the house. LOL Marly

We dont have a garage. The previous owners took it out to put an in ground swimming pool in. We dont have the pool either because that developed leaks. |

Katmom, you are soooooo bad!!! Well, the garage has my car, Durango, and my late hubby's 66 Plymouth Fury. Chest freezer, extra fridge, ton and a half of pellets, and then there's the "shop side". It is neat and clean, thanks to my brother the organizer!!

We had a 1 car garage that came with our house. When we moved in we discovered that the previous owners never cleaned it out. It was packed full!
About 3 years ago my carpenter husband demolished it and put up a 3 car. We park our 2 trucks in it and still have room for a work table and all our other things. It also has an attic for more storage. He was really thinking when he built it.
Hubby is pretty picky about the garage. It's his domain. He even ran out lines for cable when he built it! It has heat too. With 3 women in the house he needs someplace to hide!

Wow CityChick it is so nice to have a handy man for a husband. Sounds like he planned for a potential Man Cave Lol, my father was the only man in the house with my mom, my three sisters and female house pets. My poor dad. |

Roxy7 I would much rather have a garage than a pool. I have both and even though my garage needs a constant cleaning out from organizing all the new hand-me-downs from my mom redecorating or making room for my soon to be new family, it is cheaper. My kids use the pool daily but when something goes out on it again or develope leaks I wont be able to afford to repair it. |

Our 2 car garage actually has our 2 cars in it!!! I will say though that the only reason it does, is because for now we are renting and our landlord is our next door neighbor, so it matters to me what it looks like out there, and that we don't have cars outside the garage when they should be inside! When we were in our house that we sold 2 years ago(we lived there for 12 years), the 2 car garage never had cars in it! Well very rarely. It was used for everything else but storing the cars, lol!

We have a two car garage that has seen 1 car parked in it (2 Days) in the last eleven years! Let's see.....the short list, misc tools, three engine blocks, boxes of my husbands father's old hot rod magazines, a freezer, refrigertor, hockey stuff, old quilt frame, player piano awaiting refurbishing and my 1903 wood/coal cook stove that I hope to move out back this summer for an out door kitchen! We even built a huge shed/barn for some of this stuff to go in but hubby put his wood working tools in there instead. Guess thats what you get when you marry a pack rat and your one two! You never know when you'll need something, right? ( I keep sayin that to make myself feel better.) Heather

Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one who uses their garages for things other than autos! Mine does have a car in it but it's my old '78 Mustang. DH refuses to get rid of it so it stays in one side with golf clubs stored in it. The other side of the 2 car garage is fill 1/2 with my free cycle finds waiting to be refinished and the other 1/2 is DH tools. This sounds like it's quite organized, let me tell you, it's NOT! It's a hoarders dream come true. Packed on each side with stuff with barely a pathway through the middle, LOL!
