I am going to concentrate on a healthier lifestyle and enjoy the things I love to do. Spinning is fun but my sister enjoys it more. Before Mom passed away she gave her spinning wheel to my sister and gave me her loom. We shared Moms knitting needles and yarn and things. There is still much more that we've not went through yet. I have goats and I love them, their so sweet. I have two pregnant ones, waiting on them to kid now. I believe Miss Nellie is going to have twins again! By my count they should have already been born so I guess my calendar is not the same as hers. But she's getting close as you can tell when examining her. Everyone has some neat hobbies their going to learn, goodluck to everyone!

I think my goal for 2010 is to get a good garden in! This year my garden was dismal and I really want to put a lot of food up this coming year. I have failed-garden guilt every time I have to go grocery shopping!

Hi Ladies!
This year my goal was to learn how to make bread successfully and to can things from my garden! I accomplished both and couldn't be happier! Next year I want to learn how to pressure can so I can put up more veggies from my garden! I also want to learn how to make cheese and be successful in starting my plants from seed indoors this year! Of course these are the main goals, but my list is much much longer! Life is never dull as a farmgirl!!!!

I discovered Mixed Media art this year... I mean I have seen it forever, but I started to experience with it this year.. I fell in love with Kelly Rae Roberts' art work and her book "taking flight". (so much so that we are trying to get her to come to Prosser to do a book signing and art class).. anyway 2010 I plan on really spending time with this media and blending it with my love of the written word...

This is a neat topic!

I am going to be more organized this coming year. Since I had to move 3 times in 3 months, it seems most of my stuff is at my parents' place yet. Since I work in daycare, I am also going to be more organized for my activities & think ahead.

I am also going to start on my handmade Christmas presents in February/March so I'm not rushing & stressing so much come November/December. It always seems to come up faster than I want.

Depending on if I get to move to my grandpa's place, that could be on my list as well. If I do, I'm hoping it will be in the late spring/early summer so I can put a garden in. But if not, I won't feel bad, since there is a lot of work that needs to be done inside the house & around the yard as well. Time will tell, I suppose.

Life isn't about finding yourself. It's about creating yourself.

The tension on that crochet thing is mostly just practice. My Grandma taught me to crochet when I was 12 and my first project was a jumpsuit. Connected pants and top. By the time I finished I had outgrown it and the tension at the beginning was way tighter than at the end but I finished and my tension is good. Problem is she was left handed and I am right handed and my work has to be turned over for it to be on the right side. Weird but true.
As far as something new I want to try, I would like to find a way to make some money from home. I use to teach riding lessons but my horse is just getting to old for that. Anyone got any suggestions?

Oh Diana, I just LOVE your idea of a gratitude journal! That would be so handy to have for those days when one feels down and out. They could flip through their journal to lift their spirits. I may have to borrow you idea. Thank you for sharing it.

That's funny Beth! Crazy thing is I'm a lefty, but only for writing and eating. Everything else is done with my right hand. For some reason teachers had a tough time teaching lefties back when I started school so we got made to do just about everything else using our right hand. Good for me I'm not a true lefty I suppose. I'm gettig a little better. My piece is all loose at the bottom and tighter at the top, but it's just for me, just to practice. I remember people telling me how relaxing it is to crochet or knit. I thought they were CRAZY, but now yeah I see what they mean.

Melanie, I loved your post. My Grandmother that taught me to Crochet was a lefty but her father thought (as many people did in those days) that it meant she was mentally defective, so he tied her left hand to her body and made her do everything with her right hand. But he wasn't there when her grandmother taught her to crochet so she learned that with her left hand. For all her life she could do everything with both hands except crochet and she could only do that with her left.
I also wanted to say how much I like you quote. I have heard it before and I love it.
