... Hi!
Has anyone ever created cranberry juice from a bag of cranberries that can be found from the grocery store? I am not in any shape to go to the store for the juice but has two bags of cranberries in the freezer. I am in need of the cranberry juice for myself. I believe I have a case of UTI and it is a long wait for Monday.

Thanks for any help!

Wash and sort the berries. Put in a pot. Cover with water or apple juice. Cook the berries till super soft. Pour into a jelly bag or simliar and let juice drain/strain. When cool enough to handle you can finish squeezing out the rest of the juice into the container. You may need to add more water or sugar depending on how strong you like it.

Is that enough instructions to help? I can be to short and to the point sometimes. If you need more help shoot me an email. I usually check a couple times a day.

UTI treatment around here starts with a gallon of water and a gallon of cranberry juice the first day. Works wonders!

Karrieann,
You can also eat the whole berries, if you are not up to squeezing them. I used to get UTI's a lot when my kids were young, and I would eat canned cranberries, they worked well.
If you are not a cranberry person (ugh- I actually shudder when I have to eat them.) the juice is definitely easier going down.
Make sure you drink lots and lots of water, Anigie's right- a gallon to start the first day, and keep it up until you can get to the dr. It might make the difference between a UTI and a kidney infection.
I know exactly how you feel, UTI's are awful to go through. I hope you feel better soon.

We have a juicer so we juice them raw and drink it. I really like to put apples in them and it works great!

Another thing that can help a UTI is parsley tea. Very lightly simmer an entire bunch of parsely in 1/2 gallon of water, then steep. Add salt if needed, and drink as much as you can every few hours until it is gone. Some would say not to do this in pregnancy, that the parsley would be too strong. A midwife I know used it in her practice for years. There are other ideas, too, but not from the kitchen! You have to go buy stuff so email me if you want.

I take cranberry capsules on a regular basis now, after a bad bout with a UTI. They are cheap and easy to take.Plus they are full of vitamin C! I love cranberries too. I can hardly wait for them to come out in the stores when the seasons change. I like to bake with them. :-P
