This is fun, I'm almost done sewing the blocks up! For the signature, the fabric slips when writing on it. Would it help to iron on freezer paper? |

I put it on a piece of cardboard and then I write. I am careful to lift it up so the black does not get on anything else.

Hi, Sister-chicks! I thought I posted this yesterday, but I must not have hit that final submit reply button ;-). For signature purposes, there are several things that will help. You can iron on some freezer paper or lay the finished block on fine grit sandpaper to hold it still. Pigma micron pens are great to sign with. They are permanent and come in several different sized points and colors. I find that the 05 works well for signing fabric. I've found them in quilt shops and art supply stores. They work well for coloring your own labels if you are so inclined and the 01 point size is good for tracing around applique' designs.
Speaking of signing, you all do autograph your creations don't you?

I am hoping that everybody signs their blocks because that is what the signature block is all about. Happing sewing everyone!

Has anyone started making any blocks yet?? I started cutting the white on white but was distracted by other projects that needed to be done. Its 12 days till Christmas and I don't even have my tree up either. I am just so behind with Christmas this year. And those Pigma pens work terrific! Those of you who may not have used them before, use a few scraps of fabric to practice writing. The freezer paper works great to stabilize your fabric. And you can use it several times before the "wax" is gone. Any way, you are going to just love those pens! I have taken Monday and Tuesday off this week to catch up on cleaning and preparing the house for guests. I know I will find time to sewing too.. Take care

Hi Julie,
Do you have room for one more? If so, please count me in! What a fun project to use up some of the scrap basket.
Thanks, Teresa |

Oh no Debbie.... Can you maybe rinse the blocks out... I know how pets can be. My little Llassa Apso 2 year old dog grabbed a hold of the Christmas lights and darn near tipped the tree over. Good Luck Dear!

Thanks Julie, I rinsed a few under cold water and put the rest in a bag and ran them thru the wash. The ones that were washed looks pretty good, but I'll have to take them to work and look at them under
the florecent lights. It's snowing today and theres not enough light to see if the coffee all came out. Storeing them in zip lock bags sounds like a good idea! I'm thinking of un sewing and replacing the white strip. Oh well, I'm learning something new, right?!! Debbie

I just received my blocks from the other signature block swap I joined. Check these out! There were 69 of us who completed the task. The prints were civil war era and the blocks were 3". Really pretty. I'll make the quilt after the holidays.
Have a good day!
