I thought I would post this unmentionable topic because there was a while when I had trouble with yeast infections. There, I said it! Yuck. I spent hundreds on creams, doctor visits and all the yucky over the counter crap. Know what cured it for good? Hydrogen peroxide at the tune of 99 cents a bottle. WHy couldnt someone tell me that before?

Could you ladies please tell me exactly how you go about using these two products? Sorry, as I don't mean to have you have to go into graphic detail, and please feel free to email me. I would be very interested in knowing since I am expecting, I don't particularly care what the drs say. What goes in, does have an effect on my unborn baby whether they say its a small one or not.
Thanks ladies!
hugs,

Jessie

Personally, I've found if I limit my white sugar intake - I'm fine. But the moment it passes my lips - I'm done for.

Dear Jessie, and for anyone interested in this topic.
I'm a Licensed midwife on sabbatical. Hydrogen peroxide is considered safe for yeast infections, though it often is more recommended for " BV", bacterial vaginosis. In Sarah's case, it really did work for her yeast, which it can and should do, esp on cases that do not respond to other remedies. My first line on yeast in late pregnancy is Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Oil suppositories. In early pregnancy, milder methods may work just as well, and are cheaper. They are inserted vaginally at night, and most women find them very soothing. They are a safe and also strong, because the body chemistry of a pregnant woman allows for some yeast while fending off some of the bigger bugs that cause more serious risks for mom and baby. A cheaper and safe, effective remedy can also be boric acid suppositories. Yes I said " acid"- but this is also used for eye washes. I have never had anyone complain about problems with it. It's soooo cheap. Buy a bottle of boric acid powder at the drug store- sometimes you need to ask the pharmacist. It should be under $5, and lasts FOREVER. If they ask, say your husband needs an eyewash. Get some OO gelatin capsules at a health food or herbal store, and fill them. Insert 2 per night, for 3 nights, skip an night. Repeat until cured- usually, one repetition. Vitanica mades a ready made version, " Yeast Arrest"- $14, kind of steep but very easy. You can treat a lieftime of yeast for half that price with homemade.
Here's how I recommend the hyrdogen peroxide:
Use a bulb syringe ( like for newborn babies or a 3 oz " ear syringe") to draw up a shot glass full of peroxide.
Lean back in the empty bathtub or shower with pelivs tilted up/ tucked up. ( Think about how this would help retain the fluid)
Apply the peroxide vaginally and " hold" or retain it as long as you can by keeping the pelvis tucked. You will know when to stand up again- it's not forever! Use your gut about this.
If the irritation is also external, part the labia and pour peroxide straight down right over everything. This can immdiately take away all the external misery, and keep it gone!
Well, I hope I did not go on forever about this. I do miss my practice, but I'm needed at home right now.

PS
Sarah,
When I was 19, I had some yeast issues, and back then it was a doctor's visit and a $50 tube of Monistat by RX. A midwife taught me about using yogurt and also one I forgot- a whole peeled clove of garlic as an overnight suppository. I was SO empowered. This was truly part of why I chose midwifery as a career several years later.
I totally get it how much it ROCKS to break free and heal ourselves for under $1!
Take Care,
Mary LD

Hi all. I'm new here and have enjoyed reading in the forums! I don't have much problems with yeast, but I have tried the garlic suppository. I tied a long piece of dental floss on it really good and used it like a tampon. Watered down yogurt used as a vaginal douch I've heard is great too.

Good post, Mary.

I am an herbalist and I will add methods of delivery to this area. One real help is colloidal silver and it is a liquid like hydrogen peroxide and we were told to take a tampon and pour the liquid down the center of the tampon- where the string goes into it. Then insert and it will hold the product on the site. But a turkey baster was also recommended actually.
The way to apply herbal products in by making a bolus. You get cocoa butter, melt it and then add whatever herbs you are working with. You want to add the herbs while it is hot to activate the herbs. Then I take a pice of foil and form it to hold the mixture. What you want in the end is to have a kind of pencil or larger (around) size roll of the herbal mix. Break this off in chunks and insert before bed. It get more specific as per the amount needed but this is intended to tell the delivery method. It is not rocket science.

The yogurt is good but can be pushed to work faster by opening a probiotic capsule and mixing into it. I actually think there are things sold at the feed store that are made for giving meds to livestock that work well for this. It would be something that worked for the paste meds. Otherwise thin it down and use the turkey baster.

The bolus is a very good method though.

Dear Windsong,
I love your post, too!
How AWESOME that you make boluses! I never quite got to that. For really, really stubborn yeast, take 15 drops of tea tree oil in water at nignt before bed. It truly tastes horrible! Repeat nightly until the yeast is gone. Once can be enough. I have seen a pregnant woman or two do that to prevent thrust at delivery becoming thrush- " forever" with nursing. I did well woamn care too- of course these remedies are for genral use.
Thanks for being receptive to my post. I really miss midwifery, but I need to be there for my teenager right now. well, I guess I already said that, but it is still true.
