Day before yesterday I made a bit pot of spaghetti and thought I'd use some of my frozen tomato sauce, not the canned juicy stuff, but the stuff in the freezer.
When I thawed it, it was too juicy so I put it in a pot and set it on the wood stove. Giving it another try! I left the lid off so it could evaporate away. The first time, I left the lid on. My mistake.
So the pot sat on the stove till yesterday when I reheated the spaghetti but that needed a little more oomph after the water for reheating. I put the cooked down sauce in the spagh and, although a little tarter than I'm used to, it was GREAT.
Cooked down, the sauce looks like it's supposed to. Now, if I can just remember to get the freakin' lids for my canning jars, I'm going to redo the whole batch.

Sounds good. And on a wood stove, too. Do things takes different cooked on a wood stove? I don't know why they would. Does it take longer or not as long? I guess it would depend on how hot the fire is.

Update...
Found out, if it's cold outside and hubby makes the fire a lot hotter, don't leave the tomatoes on to cook as long. I left the lid off but the fire is way bigger/hotter so it cooked down just a little too far. Scorched just a bit. So, by extrapolation, if the fire is hotter and you leave the lid off, you can't leave it as long, have to check it way more often. Doesnt' taste bad but it is scorched. *sigh* Thankfully, I have lots of other frozen tomatoes to heat plus what I tried to can. I'll get it right!!
One of these days I'll get all the bugs worked out and do it right!! :-)
