I just have to share with those of you who would understand. My new gas range was just installed yesterday. Yippee!

It replaces a electric glass cooktop - which I absolutely hated. I made stir-fry last night, and it cooked quickly, like it should, instead of simmering and boiling.

And this weekend, I will be canning again! Couldn't can on that glass cooktop.

Just had to share!

Congratulations Bev!!!

I remember a few years back our oven died. We couldn't afford a new range so I became very creative with the grill and Crockpot :) Chocolate Chip Cookies on the grill :) It was just about a year before we got a new range. The first thing I made was a Honey-Pumpkin Pie and it was so nice being able to bake again :)

Happy Canning! :)

Bev I just upgraded from electric to Gas this year too. You will be amazed at how much easier it is to can.

Congrats Bev! I miss my gas stove (the only good thing about the rental house we live in earlier this year!)

There nothing like cooking on a gas stove. I have electric right now but have been asking dh about a gas one. keeping my fingers crossed.

God is good....all the time.

Bev: I DO understand. When we moved into our house45 years ago it came with an electric range. I just couldn't wait to get gas. Had it ever since and it is fantastic. But I really like to cook on a wood stove too. Congrats girl1

CONGRATS!!

Funny I ironically have the opposite problem, and opposite fortune! hahaha

I have a terrible gas stove, that spits orange super glue gas all over the kitchen and it's impossible even with steel wool to scrub off of things. I just won a 1960's GE Electric Double Oven and range for 40 dollars. I'm sooooo excited. We went and picked it up on Tues/weds it was a long way from where I live-14 hours each way! hahaha It's at my inlaws right now, while we wait on getting the permit from our association here to move it in the apartment. I can't wait!!!

I've been dealing with this terrible gas spat all over my kitchen for nearly 10 years now!

However, you did confirm why I didn't want a glass top! I went with coil elements of course, since it's from the 1960's. I doubt I will ever own a new stove/oven again. As my gas was brand new, the only new one I've ever had, and the worst one I ever had. hahaha

But, I am just as happy for you that you got what you wanted, as I am for me! hahaha :)

Congrats on your new stove! We went opposite most of you too and went from a gas stove to an electric glass top, both dh and I grew up with electric and just like the way they cook better. We have been freezing and dehydrating since, if I really really want to can there is a gas stove in our rental (that will soon be turned into our business office) that could be used. Happy cooking/baking/canning!
