I love the cool, misty weather we are having here in Tennessee, today. When the weather cools I get urges to cook and bake. I made a big pot of Chili for lunch, with plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow at work and lunch for my Hubby, plus I'm freezing some. Also we just enjoyed warm, buttery French bread fresh from the oven.

I may set up some Artisan Bread, so I can bake bread whenever we are almost out of bread, instead of buying the awful store bought bread. I was thinking about baking Cinnamon Rolls and Chocolate Chip Bars, too. This is fun and sometimes I don't know when to stop...LOL!

I'll take a cinnamon roll off your hands, I'll share my hot cocoa! Oh I know I do the same thing this time of year, I've been baking and cooking all week. My husband thinks he pants are too tight now, just wait a couple more weeks. It was a clear cold 45 here this morning so I headed for the kitchen myself. Enjoy your day!

That's funny, we all seem to get the same drive when the weather turns. I made a big pot of vegetable/barley soup and baked bread and oatmeal cookies.

Our homes smell great too, when food is cooking and baking. Feels cozy, and I feel thankful for this wonderful life.

i know what ya'll mean... it was drizzly, cloudy, and cold here today, about 40. a baked banana-chocolate chip bread and zucchini bread, canned saurkraut, and just made homemade spiced cider all in the name of staying warm! it's like an excuse, but not really since i am being productive and cooking. but it's my motivation to cook, in order to warm the house up. canning is especially excellent at that!

Well, it is REALLY pretty here today, but my parents are coming for a few days, so I have to get cooking! I just got done making two lasagnas and am waiting for a couple loaves of French bread to come out of the oven. Trying to figure out what to make for dessert, too. As soon as my son wakes up from his nap we will be outside and in the garden digging sweet potatoes!

I know how you feel. It's still practically 90 down here, and I keep baking and making soup since October came. I think it's just something in the brain!!

I made a pot of chili the other night and baked some cookies too. I've been in a baking mood since the weather has turned cooler.

Haha Sharon...I have apple butter cooking and ham & bean soup on the stove too! My sourdough is on its final rise and I'm seriously thinking about baking some cookies! We had our first light frost this morning. Now the sun is shining, but it is definetly cooler! I have missed my kitchen! (Bye-bye barbeque!)

I know what you mean Barb. I love to bake and cook when the weather gets cooler. So far I've made cookies, soups, and hopefully will be baking bread soon.

Two loaves of pumpkin walnut bread (almost all eaten up now!), the crackly pear cake, peanut butter cookies (on the list to make today)....yeah, this is a hard time of year to diet.

Sharon! Are you using your very own sweet potatoes?? I can't wait to use mine.

I have a LOT of pumpkins and I don't want to waste a single one. The weather here has been horrible the last couple of days. Lots of rain, flooding and dropping temps. So this weekend I'm making apple butter, pumpkin butter and all sorts of other pumpkin delights!! I found recipes for pumpkin cookies and pumpkin bars. I want to try them all! Plus I need to make pumpkin bread and the wonderful apple cake recipe that appeared here last week.

My sister-in-law and I are going apple picking tomorrow morning. Yeah!! I can't wait to get started baking!!

Hi Sarah,

No, not yet. They are rather small but I am still waiting for them to cure :)

This is funny: I was putting my sweet potatoes in the fridge after the grocery trip and one fell out of the bag. I was in the fridge so I was re-organizing my veggies and I turn to pick up the sweet potato and it was gone! Yup. Miss Tirzah stole it and was munching on it :)

Have fun apple picking. When I harvest pumpkins, I cook them puree and then freeze for later use :)

AHHH!!! That reminds me of Jack, the Tomatoe Eating Dog!! Darn animals eating up all the produce. LOL!!

Yes, I have been cooking my pumkins and making them into puree to put in the freezer. But, now I want to try it in every pumpkin recipe I come across! Plus, I have family in town and my sister's wedding is this coming weekend. AND there is a bake sale Monday at my office to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. AND........ It's cold and nasty outside and I just feel like baking. LOL!!!!! Hee hee!!!

Oh, all you wonderful cooks! It's cold here from now until April, so I get to bake and cook a lot. Yes, to make the house smell good, yes, because I love it, and yes, because I love to share. Maybe I'll share some with those on the virtual porch. MMMMMM good. Keep those recipes coming. Farmgirls do it best!
