I had a California King bed and it still didn't fit all of us. LOL I just love, love, love animals and I get such a delight to read about those who love their furry children.

LEt's see,

Katie our oldest cat is 11. She's a Korat that harkens back from Thailand. I love her to death. She was a gift but I swear i'll never get another purebred cat again! Ohhh the attitude sometimes!

Sam the mighty hunter is 8. He is your typical black American shorthair. He was found as a kitten by the side of the road by one of our vet staff. He is a very lovey boy, hates being put into a crate and loves all kinds of people food. He earns his keep several times over by keeeping the mouse, rat and rabbit population in check. Forgot to tell DH I found a squirrel tail the other day. Way to go Sammy! Oh, and he is really bad about leaving "presents" on the front porch.

Jasmine our dog will be a spritely 3 in November. She is the most spoiled. I took her to a local festival last weekend and was impressed by her very good behavior , especially around the horses.

We talk about getting another dog, but rather enjoy it when other people bring thier dogs over to play and then leave at the end of the evening.

We have two 9 year old cats, litter mates. Their parents were feral but the litter was taken before their eyes opened and hand raised. Both fixed, Sampson and Delilah rule our house as they are only indoor cats. The only time they are lap kitties is when the weather gets cold (not often here in FL) and I have a quilt on my lap. They are very affectionate and we love them to death!

My hubbs and I can't think of a better way to spend a rainy/snowy winter night than all of us cuddled up together in our bed. We love our pets, and they each have their own little personality which makes them such pleasures to be around. It's pretty bad that sometimes we can be out and about in town then decide to come home cause we miss the "kids".

My furry child is a Yorkie. Her name is Sophie and she is 7 yrs old. Sophie has the sweetest disposition. The Grandkids carry her around, sometimes by the neck if I can't get to her fast enough, and she just lets them. We just love her. She sleeps with us (of course in the middle).
She was a rescue dog, and I want to beat the people who had her before me!!!!! She is the best little thing.

Blessing,
Tina

I love hearing all of you rave on about your furry children. How lucky they all are.
Jennifer, I know what you mean. When my husband and I go to our camp, which is about two hours from home, we get a babysitter for the tribe. We usually come home a day early because we just need to see the furry children. OF course, we go on and on about how they must miss us and how lonely they must be. LOL

Last weekend a friend and I went to a dogfest where we watched agility demos.

Cutest thing there was a yorkie whose pretty coat barely grazed the ground and looked like a cute little mop jumping hurdles.

Very impressive for such a little guy

My 2 furbabies, er, maybe I should say furteens in dog years?!!!, are 2.
We brought Bonnie home at almost 5 months. She was the last of the litter, and no one wanted her but me. :(
2 weeks later I saw an ad for another litter of pups, and somehow convinced husband that Bonnie needed a husband.
They are exactly 2 months apart. Both are purebred golden retrievers.
The day we brought Bear home, a loooong drive, and Bear was puking and everything else, besides crying in the back seat, husband said, "he's mine, he'll be my hunting dog", I just said, "okay".
Almost 2 years later, Bonnie is my sweet lady dog. Bear is my lay in the lap, kisses, hugs, your my mama, I'm a real boy, dog. Neither one of them is a hunter, although Bonnie shows promise. They are my babies, my best friends, my- what would I do without you, you complete me babies.
Last winter, when Bonnie was just 19 months, she gave birth to a litter of 5 adorable, completely healthy pups. Yes, Bear was the father. Through no fault of their own, they decided they wanted to become teenage parents. A very stressful time for me, but do you know all the pups were healthy, Bonnie was a great mom, and Bear, well he was definitely a modern dad, being there for the birth and helping to raise those pups. All 5 went (too fast) to really, really great homes and I still keep in touch with all the owners.
Bonnie and Bear were married before they had pups. I have the pictures, and my 4 grand daughters were all bridesmaids.
They want to have puppies again, but I have told them that they have to wait one more year to make sure they are completely healthy and we can have all their clearances done. Bonnie is just about ready to do into heat, and they say they can't wait until next year, but I say they will, and the next few weeks will be a strain on all of us.
Husband goes back to work at UPS next week, after being out on disability for the past 6 months. I will be letting Bonnie and Bear sleep in bed with me.
After all, it's pretty scary at 4:00 in the morning, everyone needs someone to protect them in the bed with them.
I love my dogs.

By the way- I love hearing about everyone's furbaby's!!!!
To me- it's a good sign of a person's integrity when they have pets in their home, and also how mine react to people who come into our home.
We used to have a little mixed pup, terrier and poodle I think. There were a few people he would just bark and bark at no matter how many times they came over. To this day, even though he is no longer with us, I wonder at the sincerity and integrity of those people!
Enjoy your furbabies, they are with us such a short time.

Oh, Brenda you are so right. Just went and gave each of my "kids" a big hugs and kisses. 4 years ago we lost our first doggie baby from diabetes at 14 years. She was so sick at the end, she had even gone blind. My husband & I have no children so to us these are our babies, the loss of her broke both our hearts. We tried staying away from home for nearly a month because it was too quiet here. Finally I got up the courage to go to our local SPCA and there was a litter of 11 puppies (6 weeks old) that had been dumped and a sweet little girl stole my heart, that was "Ardbark". My husband says our other baby sent her from Heaven because we were so sad. I've never been an indoor cat kinda person well until last May. My neighbor came running up to my house with a tiny kitten whose mama had stashed him & his siblings in the motor of her husbands tractor. Yep, he didn't know started it and the fan whacked them up. He was the only one to survive and he was hurt real bad. Broken jaw, broken leg and cut off one toe. She was affraid her husband was gonna put him down. My husband said we would fix him up and put him out with the other two cats we have. After a cast, stitches and months of healing needless to say we both, even Ardbark, fell in love. So now "Heelboom" (the kind of tractor he was caught in) lives inside with us and like I said before on this thread we ALL share our king size bed everynight. Our furbabies are most definitely sent from Heaven and I treasure every moment I have with them!!

Warm Wishes
Jennifer

Oh my, what would we do without our furry children. Our Deeohgee is an 11 year old black lab/germanshephard mix with an attitude to match. Kaytoo is our 6 year old black lab who is our forever pup. Don't think he will ever mature but that is why we love him soooo much. These guys are both spoiled rotten. I feed them home made chicken and rice with peas and carrots and garlic and they love it and their fur just glows it is sooo shiny. They are our joy and afford a great feeling of security as they are very protective of me. If I let out a squeal because some creature (snake, mouse, spider) has frightened me, both come running to the rescue on the alert to take care of whatever is making me quiver. Deeohgee one night saved me from a copper head snake. I stepped outside at night bare foot (not a good thing to do in the wilderness in Arkansas where snakes and all sorts of critters abound) and Deeohgee my hero would not let me come back in the house. There was no way I was going to get around him and into the door. I called for my hubby who figured there must be a snake and sure enough, under the threshold of the door was a copperhead. My Deeohgee was taking care of me. He is my furry hero.

My "only child" Hobbs is 13 years young. He's been an only child since he was around 2 so I think he'll probably stay that way. He deserves all of our love and attention not to mention the middle of the bed!
