Hi ladies -
I recently saw a recipe for home made applesauce that had little cinnamon candies put in it for flavor & color. I can't remember if it was in this forum or somewhere else, but I can't find it!!! I'd love to try canning some applesauce this year and that recipe sounded yummy. Do any of you remember seeing this recipe or have a copy of it?
Thanks!
Luanne

We do it every year, after your apples are put through whatever you put them through to make them into applesauce, add your sugar and "Red Hots"...they will melt as you stir them and the sugar in, but, the sauce must still be warm to melt them....Enjoy!

I just made apple jelly with red hots from an amish cookbook I had but the jelly did not set. I was not too concerned though as it was my first attempt and I think the lessons learned were worth it. What a fabulous color! The recipe called for apple juice and not apples so it's not like I wasted a ton of fruit.

another recipe for apples is to core them, cut them in rings and put some brown sugar and red hots with them. They get a beautiful glaze and are good with pork or just as dessert.
