I am starting a thread on my love and adoration for Honeycrisp apples and how I can not ever wait for the fall season when the first shipment comes in .... Anyone else agree??

Have you tried Jonagolds? I feel about them the way you do about the Honeycrisps. (so great in pies and also for munching!) Galas are on sale cheap here this week but the Honeycrisps are there too and running about $1.50 which seems pretty high. What are your favourite ways to use these apples...baking or eating and do they store well?

We love these too! I need to get another batch at the Farmer's Market this weekend.

I don't think I have tried jonagolds. I have ALWAYS wanted to make a pie with them. They are on the higher side for sure price-wise, and so I only get one or two apples at a time. I absolutely love to just eat them.. One of these days I WILL make a pie though! :D Baked apples or a apple crisp with them would be wonderful too. I will try the jonagold sometime!

I wish we could do an exchange of apples. LOL! ... I've never even heard of Buckley Giant but I guess that's because of where I live!

Lilwing: do you get your honeycrisps at the market or do those grow in Texas. Minnesota grows lots of honeycrisps and they are especially delicious this year. Hope you find them soon.

The first Honeycrisps I had were from Minnesota! I actually think they might be some of the best! I think they are always imported (is that the right word..lol) I don't know if they are grown here but I was going to find out and also save some of the organic seeds I get ... one day I'll try growing a tree... Hahahaha!
